A method for depositing a metal-based coating on a particulate substrate, including: i) preparing a mixture comprising the particulate substrate, a powder comprising a coating metal oxide of one or more of Ti, Al, Zn, Sn, In, Sb, Ag, Co, V, Ni, Cr, Mn, Fe, Cu, Pt, Pd, Ta, Zr, Nb, Rh, Ru, Mo, Os, Re and W, a reducing agent powder of Al metal or Al alloy, and a powder of aluminium chloride; and ii) mixing and heating the mixture to form a coating on the particulate substrate, to produce a coated substrate product.

Sm-Fe-N MAGNET
A Sm—Fe—N magnet includes Sm—Fe—N particles, wherein an inter-particle metal phase is present between at least two of the Sm—Fe—N particles, an average particle diameter of the Sm—Fe—N particles is less than 2.0 μm, and a percentage of the Sm—Fe—N particles having an aspect ratio of 2.0 or more is 10% or less, the inter-particle metal phase includes a Fe.sub.3Zn.sub.10 phase and an α-Fe phase in a particle form, and in the inter-particle metal phase, an area ratio of the Fe.sub.3Zn.sub.10 phase is 80% or more.
Sm-Fe-N MAGNET
A Sm—Fe—N magnet includes Sm—Fe—N particles, wherein an inter-particle metal phase is present between at least two of the Sm—Fe—N particles, an average particle diameter of the Sm—Fe—N particles is less than 2.0 μm, and a percentage of the Sm—Fe—N particles having an aspect ratio of 2.0 or more is 10% or less, the inter-particle metal phase includes a Fe.sub.3Zn.sub.10 phase and an α-Fe phase in a particle form, and in the inter-particle metal phase, an area ratio of the Fe.sub.3Zn.sub.10 phase is 80% or more.
Resin formulations for additive manufacturing of metals, and methods of making and using the same
Some variations provide a composition for additive manufacturing (3D printing) of metals, comprising: from 10 vol % to 70 vol % of a photocurable liquid resin; from 10 vol % to 70 vol % of metal or metal alloy particles, optionally configured with a photoreflective surface; and from 0.01 vol % to 10 vol % of a photoinitiator. Other variations provide a composition for additive manufacturing of metals, comprising: from 1 vol % to 70 vol % of a photocurable liquid resin; from 0.1 vol % to 98 vol % of an organometallic compound containing a first metal; from 1 vol % to 70 vol % of metal or metal alloy particles containing a second metal (which may be the same as or different than the first metal); and from 0.01 vol % to 10 vol % of a photoinitiator. Many examples of metals, photocurable resins, organometallic compounds, photoinitiators, and optional additives are disclosed, and methods of making and using the composition are described.
COLD SPRAY PROCESS USING TREATED METAL POWDER
A method of applying a metal comprising titanium to a substrate is disclosed. The method comprises nitriding the surface of metal powder particles comprising titanium by contacting the particles with a first gas comprising nitrogen in a fluidized bed reactor, and depositing the metal powder particles onto the substrate with cold spray deposition using a second gas.
IRON NITRIDE POWDER WITH ANISOTROPIC SHAPE
Techniques are disclosed for milling an iron-containing raw material in the presence of a nitrogen source to generate anisotropically shaped particles that include iron nitride and have an aspect ratio of at least 1.4. Techniques for nitridizing an anisotropic particle including iron, and annealing an anisotropic particle including iron nitride to form at least one a″-Fe16N2 phase domain within the anisotropic particle including iron nitride also are disclosed. In addition, techniques for aligning and joining anisotropic particles to form a bulk material including iron nitride, such as a bulk permanent magnet including at least one a″-Fe16N2 phase domain, are described. Milling apparatuses utilizing elongated bars, an electric field, and a magnetic field also are disclosed.

METHOD OF MAKING NANOPARTICLES IN AN AQUEOUS SOLUTION PROVIDING FUNCTIONALIZATION AND HINDERED AGGREGATION IN ONE STEP
The invention relates to a method of making a functionalized nanoparticle in an aqueous solution, wherein a chemical functionalization of a metal nanoparticle in the aqueous solution is provided and the aqueous solution comprises water and ingredients. The ingredients comprise at least the metal nanoparticle, a thiol of the form R—SH, where R represents a substituent, and a silver compound. The invention further relates to a plurality of functionalized nanoparticles according to the method, wherein each of the plurality of functionalized nanoparticles comprises a metal core, a silver coating and a sulfide bond substituent. The invention also relates to a lateral flow test method and device.
METHOD FOR PRODUCING ANISOTROPIC MAGNETIC POWDER, AND ANISOTROPIC MAGNETIC POWDER
Provided is an anisotropic magnetic powder having a low oxygen concentration, a small average particle size, a narrow particle size distribution, and a high remanence, and a method for producing the anisotropic magnetic powder. The present disclosure relates to a method for producing an anisotropic magnetic powder, including: pretreating an oxide containing Sm and Fe by heat-treating the oxide in a reducing gas atmosphere to obtain a partial oxide; heat-treating the partial oxide in the presence of a reducing agent to obtain alloy particles; nitriding the alloy particles to obtain a nitride; and treating the nitride with an alkali to obtain a magnetic powder.
