MULTI-METALLIC MECHANICAL RETENTION HOOP AND TECHNIQUES FOR MANUFACTURING THEREOF
A retention structure can be created using two or more different materials (e.g., one magnetic material, and one non-magnetic material) as a composite structure. The retention structure can include a cylindrical hoop comprising one or more one or magnetic regions tangentially alternating with one or more non-magnetic regions configured to surround and retain a plurality of magnets to a rotor, wherein the one or more magnetic regions are aligned with each one of the plurality of magnets and the one or more non-magnetic regions are aligned with one or more spaces between the plurality of magnets on the rotor. The magnetic material allows flux from the permanent magnets to flow through to the stators and the non-magnetic sections reduce leakage of magnetic flux to adjoining permanent magnets through use of non-magnetic materials. The retention structure can be fabricated using a hot isostatic press process.
METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING PARTS WITH BUILT-IN CHANNEL
This invention provides a method for manufacturing parts with a built-in channel. Two kinds of materials with different melting points are used, the material with the lower melting point is a molding element with an arbitrary shape, the material with the higher melting point is powdered, and the material with the low melting point is wrapped and positioned in the powder with the high melting point. When the preparation is completed, the low-temperature material is melted down, and the channel with the random shape is formed after sintering. In the application that the metal parts need supply water, air, or oil, instead of the channel acquired by mechanical splicing or the channel molded by 3D printing technology, this method in the invention is with a wide application range, the lower cost, and the simple and controllable technology, and is suitable for mass production and with very broad market prospects.
CERMET FUEL ELEMENT AND FABRICATION AND APPLICATIONS THEREOF, INCLUDING IN THERMAL PROPULSION REACTOR
CERMET fuel element includes a fuel meat of consolidated ceramic fuel particles (preferably refractory-metal coated HALEU fuel kernels) and an array of axially-oriented coolant flow channels. Formation and lateral positions of coolant flow channels in the fuel meat are controlled during manufacturing by spacer structures that include ceramic fuel particles. In one embodiment, a coating on a sacrificial rod (the rod being subsequently removed) forms the coolant channel and the spacer structures are affixed to the coating; in a second embodiment, a metal tube forms the coolant channel and the spacer structures are affixed to the metal tube. The spacer structures laterally position the coolant channels in spaced-apart relation and are consolidated with the ceramic fuel particles to form CERMET fuel meat of a fuel element, which are subsequently incorporated into fuel assemblies that are distributively arranged in a moderator block within a nuclear fission reactor, in particular for propulsion.
MOLYBDENUM MATERIAL AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME
A molybdenum material having a diameter of 75 mm or more and a length of 250 mm or more, and having a relative density of 99.5% or more.
FABRICATING HOLLOW COMPONENTS
A method of fabricating a component having an internal void, the method comprising the steps of: i) providing a core having a shape corresponding to the internal void of the component; ii) compacting a powder around the core to form a compacted powder body around the core; iii) removing the core; and iv) heating the compacted powder body to consolidate the compacted powder body.

METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR MANUFACTURING A COMPONENT
A method of manufacturing a component comprising contacting a powder with a tooling comprising a main body and a removable element, applying a manufacturing process to the powder to form the powder into a component, removing the removable element from the tooling to form a recess, and inserting a separation tool into the recess to thereby apply a force to separate the component from the main body of the tooling. A tooling for forming a component from a powder, the tooling comprising a main body and a removable element which is removable from the main body to form a recess for the insertion of a separation tool to apply a force to separate the component from the main body of the tooling.
Method and apparatus for separating a canister and component
A method and apparatus for removing a canister 12 from a component 18 by forming an opening 30 in the canister wall thickness 14, 16 and introducing a pressurised fluid into the opening 14, 16 causing hydrostatic pressure build up between an internal canister surface 14 and the component 18, leading to the removal of the canister 12. This method and apparatus obviates the need to expend significant machining or chemical processing to remove the canister 12.
