CUTTING INSERT, USE THEREOF AND MACHINING METHOD
A cutting insert, for producing a V-shaped profile in a workpiece by radial piercing relative to an axis of rotation of the workpiece, includes a reference plane and a V-shaped insertion region. The V-shaped insertion region includes, inter alia, two cutting edges in the reference plane, a rake face and a plurality of elongated chip-guiding depressions in the rake face, each extending in parallel with a depression axis of extent or extension axis in the reference plane, providing improved chip formation compared to the prior art. The depression axes of extent or extension axes each extend at a recess chip-guiding angle in a region of 0° to 45°. A method of using the cutting insert and the workpiece at a standstill and a machining method are also provided.
CUTTING TOOL AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING SAME
A cutting tool includes: a base metal provided with a seat portion; a blade edge member that is a polycrystalline diamond sintered material containing polycrystalline diamond and a binder; and a brazing material that fixes the blade edge member to the seat portion of the base metal. The blade edge member has a thickness of greater than or equal to 0.3 mm. The brazing material is disposed between a blade edge bottom face of the blade edge member and the a seat bottom face of the seat portion and is in contact with the blade edge bottom face and the seat bottom face. The flank face is located outside of the base metal with respect to the lateral face of the base metal.
CUTTING INSERT GEOMETRY
The invention relates to a cutting insert (1) for installation in carrier tools for machining workpieces, comprising a top side (2), a bottom side (3), and side surfaces (4) connecting the top side (2) and the bottom side (3), wherein a peripheral protective chamfer (5) having an upper edge (6) adjoining the top side (2) of the cutting insert (1) and having a lower edge (7) adjoining the side surfaces (4) is arranged at the transition from the top side (2) to the side surfaces (4), wherein the upper edge (6) forms cutting edges (9) and cutting corners (10) and, in the region of the cutting edges (9), the lower edge (7) transitions into a cutting-edge clearance angle surface (8) having an edge clearance angle of 3° to 11°. For improved edge stability in drawn cuts, it is proposed that, in the region of the cutting corners (10), the lower edge (7) of the protective chamfer (5) transitions into a corner clearance angle surface (11) having an edge clearance angle of 3° to 5°.
CUTTING TOOL, CUTTING INSERT AND HOLDING TOOL
The present invention provides a cutting tool that can firmly hold four types of cutting inserts by one tool main unit. A cutting insert of a cutting tool 1 has an approximately triangular stereoscopic shape including three corner portions. A tool main unit has a fixing portion that can selectively fix a plurality of types of cutting inserts, including: a negative type cutting insert of which angle of the corner portion exceeds 60°, a positive type cutting insert of which angle of the corner portion exceeds 60°; a negative type cutting insert of which angle of the corner portion is less than 60°; and a positive type cutting insert of which angle of the corner portion is less than 60°. The fixing portion has a bottom face that contacts with a bottom face of the cutting insert, and a side wall face that contacts with a side face of the cutting insert. A portion, which contacts with the cutting insert, of the side wall face of the fixing portion differs depending on the type of the cutting insert.
