Tapping tool and method for producing a threaded bore
A tapping tool for producing a threaded bore having an internal thread in a workpiece. The tapping tool has a main cutting edge on its drill tip and a thread profile trailing in a tapping direction. The method has a tapping stroke in which the tapping tool is driven into the workpiece at a tapping feed rate in the tapping direction and at a tapping speed synchronized therewith and the main cutting edge of the tool produces a core hole bore and the tool thread profile forms an internal thread on the inner wall of the core hole bore. Chips are produced in the tapping stroke, which are conveyed out of the threaded bore in a chip removal direction opposite to the tapping direction and collide with thread flanks of the internal thread facing toward the chips to be removed.
Methods of reducing sinuous flow during machining and products formed thereby
Methods of machining a body to produce a chip wherein the body is formed of a material and in a state such that the material exhibits sinuous flow during a machining operation. The methods include providing a layer located on a surface of the body, and machining the body by causing engagement between a cutting tool and the body in a contact region below an area of the surface having the coating layer thereon and moving the cutting tool relative to the body to produce the chip having the layer thereon. The layer reduces sinuous flow in the material of the body.

WHEEL RIM CHUCK WITH SOFT JAWS
A wheel rim chuck has a chuck seat (10) and multiple soft jaws (20). The soft jaws are arranged radially at equiangular intervals and slidably mounted on the chuck seat (10). Each soft jaw (20) has a claw (21) having a protrusion (211), a clamping groove (213), and an inclined plane (216). The protrusion (211) protrudes from a side of the soft jaw (20) away from the chuck seat (10). The clamping groove (213) is recessed in a side of the protrusion (211) facing the center (111) of the chuck seat (10) and having a side wall (214) and a bottom wall (215). The inclined plane (216) extends longitudinally and obliquely from the bottom wall (215) away from the side wall (214) of the clamping groove (213).
Methods of reducing sinuous flow during machining and products formed thereby
Methods of machining a body to produce a chip are provided wherein the body is formed of a material and in a state such that the material exhibits sinuous flow during a machining operation. The methods include providing a layer located on a surface of the body, and machining the body by causing engagement between a cutting tool and the body in a contact region below an area of the surface having the coating layer thereon and moving the cutting tool relative to the body to produce the chip having the layer thereon. The layer reduces sinuous flow in the material of the body and the chip is formed primarily by laminar flow.
