Manufacturing process, tool stand, and drill bit
A drill bit includes a drill bit head, a multi-strand helix made up of three or more helix ribs, and a shank end along a drill bit axis. The multi-strand helix is made up of a conveyance area, a helix gradient, and a pitch. The helix ribs extend parallel to the drill bit axis in a first area adjacent to the drill bit head and a second area adjacent to the shank end.
Step drill bit
A step drill bit includes a shank and a body having a proximal end adjacent the shank and a distal end opposite the proximal end. The body defines a plurality of axially stacked, progressively sized steps including a first step at the distal end, a terminal step at the proximal end, and a plurality of intermediate steps having incrementally increasing diameters disposed between the first and terminal steps. The step drill bit also includes a plurality of cutting edges each disposed along one of the plurality of steps. Each edge defines a helix angle and a radial rake angle. The radial rake angle and the helix angle of the cutting edge at the terminal step is greater than the radial rake angle and the helix angle of the cutting edge at the first step.
PCD DRILL AND MANUFACTURING METHOD FOR SAME
When forming a first preliminary flute on a PCD layer of a columnar body, electrical discharge machining is performed by setting the electrode orientation so that the first twist angle is α. Next, when forming a second preliminary flute on a substrate of the columnar body and a round bar, the grinding process is performed by setting the grinding orientation and direction for a diamond whetstone so that a second twist angle is larger than the first twist angle.
SPIRAL STEP TWIST DRILL BIT
A spiral step twist drill bit, including a shank and a cutting portion. The cutting portion is provided with a spiral flute and a body clearance. A tip of the cutting portion is provided with a chisel edge and a cutting edge. A flank face is connected to the cutting edge, and is provided with a spiral cutting groove. A spiral direction of the spiral cutting groove is the same as that of the spiral flute. A slope of the spiral cutting groove is the same as that of the flank face. The spiral cutting groove is configured to divide the cutting edge into multiple segments to form multiple first edges and second edges.
TWIST DRILL BIT
A boring tool may include a coupling portion for interfacing with a powered driver, a shank operably coupled to the coupling portion, a cutting portion operably coupled to the shank, and a cutting tip operably coupled to a distal end of the cutting portion relative to the shank. The coupling portion, the shank, the cutting portion and the cutting tip share an axis. The cutting portion may be defined by a plurality of helical cutting flutes that have a variable rate that increases as distance from the cutting tip increases. The shank may include a torsion zone and the cutting tip may include a point angle between about 120 degrees and about 90 degrees.
DRILL AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING MACHINED PRODUCT USING THE SAME
A drill according to an embodiment includes a bar-shaped drill body extending along a rotation axis, a cutting edge located at a front end of the drill body, and a first flute extending spirally from the cutting edge toward a rear end of the drill body. The first flute includes a first region which is located close to the front end and has a helix angle θ1, and a second region which is located closer to the rear end than the first region and has a helix angle θ2 smaller than the helix angle θ1. The second region includes an elongated protruding part along the first flute.
Rotary tool
A rotary tool may include a body having a first part, a second part, a third part, a first cutting edge located at a first end, a flute extending from the first cutting edge toward a second end, and an outer peripheral surface. The outer peripheral surface in the third part may have a first portion. The third part may have a land face, and a second cutting edge located on a ridge line where a first portion and the land face intersect. The land face may have a first region in which a width increases from a side of the first end toward a side of the second end, and a second region that is located closer to the second end than the first region in which a width decreases from a side of the first end toward the second end.
Rotary tool
A rotary tool according to a non-limiting aspect includes a body having a rotation axis and extending from a first end to a second end. The body including: a first part including the first end; a second part located closer to a second end than the first part and having a larger outside diameter than the first part; a cutting edge located at a side of the first end; a ridge portion located in the first part and the second part, connected to the cutting edge and helically extending from the cutting edge toward the second end; and a flute located along the ridge portion. The flute includes: a first flute located at the first part and having a first helix angle; and a second flute located at the second part and having a second helix angle. The second helix angle is smaller than the first helix angle.
DRILL BIT
A method of manufacturing a drill bit includes providing a piece of bar stock having a first end, a second end opposite the first end, and an axis of rotation extending centrally through the bar stock between the first and second ends, cutting the first end of the bar stock to form a first tip angle at an oblique angle measured through the axis of rotation, cutting the first end of the bar stock at a second tip angle measured through the axis of rotation to form first tip surfaces and second tip surfaces. The first tip surfaces have the first tip angle and the second tip surfaces have the second tip angle. The second tip angle is smaller than the first tip angle. Finally forming a flute in the bar stock between the first and second ends and forming a shank at the second end of the bar stock.
Drill bit
A drill bit includes a body having a first end, a second end opposite the first end, and an axis of rotation extending centrally through the body. The drill bit includes a cutting head with a cutting tip on the axis of rotation and a cutting portion. The cutting portion includes first tip surfaces on opposite sides of the axis of rotation and second tip surfaces on opposite sides of the axis of rotation. Each first tip surface extends radially outward from the cutting tip to a corresponding second tip surface. Each second tip surface extends from a corresponding first tip surface to an outer periphery of the body. The first tip surfaces define a first tip angle measured through the axis of rotation that is oblique. The second tip surfaces define a second tip angle measured through the axis of rotation that is smaller than the first tip angle.
