A rotary tool may include a body having a first part, a second part, a third part, a first cutting edge located at a first end, a flute extending from the first cutting edge toward a second end, and an outer peripheral surface. The outer peripheral surface in the third part may have a first portion. The third part may have a land face, and a second cutting edge located on a ridge line where a first portion and the land face intersect. The land face may have a first region in which a width increases from a side of the first end toward a side of the second end, and a second region that is located closer to the second end than the first region in which a width decreases from a side of the first end toward the second end.

ROTARY CUTTING TOOL, SUCH AS A DRILL OR A REAMER

The invention relates to a rotary cutting tool (1), such as a drill (2) or a reamer (3), extending longitudinally along an axis (4) and comprising at least one main cutting edge (5) so that when the tool (1) is rotated about the axis (4), the tool (1) advances axially to perform a cutting operation on a material.

According to the invention, the tool (1) comprises means for braking (7) the axial advance of the tool (1) during the cutting operation.

A drill includes a leading end portion. The leading end portion is flat and has at least two cutting blades extending from a rotation center toward outside in a radial direction. The each cutting blade includes an arc-shaped portion. An inside linear portion is formed in a linear shape and connects to one end of the arc-shaped portion on the rotation center side. An outside linear portion is formed in a linear shape and connects to another end of the arc-shaped portion on an opposite side to the one end. The arc-shaped portion has a cutting edge provided with an arc-shaped portion chamfered surface. The inside linear portion and the outside linear portion each has a cutting edge provided with a linear portion chamfered surface. A drill axis direction width of the arc-shaped portion chamfered surface is smaller than a drill axis direction width of the linear portion chamfered surface.

Drill insert

A metal cutting drill insert for a drill tool having a chip disruptor provided at a rake face. The chip disruptor is further configured with a chamfer at a leading cutting edge region to increase cutting resistance and facilitate chip breakage.

Cutting tool
