Drilling tool
A drilling tool, in particular a rock drilling tool, for a portable machine tool includes a drill head, a drill shaft connected to the drill head, and a rotational axis. The drill head in one embodiment is a hard metal drill head, and the drill shaft in one embodiment is connected integrally with the drill head. The drill shaft is configured as one piece, has a guide section with guide groove winding in a spiral-shaped about the drill shaft for transporting away drilling dust, and has a securing section that is configured to detachably secure the drilling tool to a machine tool. The guide section has a diameter reinforcement at a drill head support region of the guide section neighboring the drill head.
Precessional-motion bone and dental drilling tools and bone harvesting apparatus
This document provides orthopedic and dental devices and methods for their use. For example, novel bone drills and dental drills are described. The bone and dental drills have at least some centers of mass that are offset from the drills' axis of rotation. Accordingly, the bone and dental drills may rotate and cut using a precessional pattern of motion. The design facilitates bone cutting, chip formation and hauling capacity, irrigation and bone harvesting. In some embodiments, the bone chips are collected in a removable apparatus fixed to the distal portion of the drill, and the collected bone chips can be used for bone grafting.
METAL DRILL
A drill for drilling a blind hole having a blind hole diameter and a blind hole depth in a metal workpiece is provided, the drill comprising a shaft, defining a drilling direction, and a rotation axis oriented in the drilling direction, the shaft having, on an end pointing in the drilling direction, a cutting edge and a stop shoulder at a distance from the cutting edge which defines the blind hole depth, wherein the cutting edge defines the blind hole diameter by rotating about the rotation axis, the shaft having an enveloping circle diameter which changes along the rotation axis and which is larger than the blind hole diameter on the stop shoulder, the shaft having a first shaft section arranged between the cutting edge and the stop shoulder which reaches to the stop shoulder and in which the enveloping circle diameter is smaller than the blind hole diameter.

APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR MINIMIZING ELONGATION IN DRILLED HOLES
A drilling apparatus and method for drilling holes into a composite workpiece. The drilling apparatus may include an end effector, a drill bit, and a control system. The end effector may include an end effector housing, a drill bit attachment, a rotation actuator, and a linear motion actuator. The linear motion actuator may convert rotary motion of a rotary motor into linear motion of the drill bit attachment. The drill bit may have a widest portion which cuts a hole into the workpiece and a narrow flute portion limiting contact time between the drill bit and the workpiece. The control system may control a speed of the linear motion actuator, with a first speed as the drill bit is plunged into the workpiece and a second speed, slower than the first speed, as the drill bit is retracted out of the workpiece.
