A drill includes drill body and peripheral insert having a radial cutting edge extending generally in a direction of a radius of the drill body, and a central insert. The peripheral insert includes a rake face including a plurality of chipbreaker protrusions. A first angle measured between a line tangent to forward ends of the plurality of chipbreaker protrusions and the central axis of the drill body extending toward the shank end is an acute angle. Also a peripheral insert is disclosed.

Drill

A drill bit has a tool shank, a center axis, a first cutting region with at least one geometrically defined first cutting edge, the same having a cutting face arranged at a radial distance from the center axis of the drill bit. The first cutting edge forms a countersink angle with the center axis. The drill bit having a chip shaping stage functionally assigned to the first cutting edge formed by the cutting face of the first cutting edge and by a shoulder surface adjoining the cutting face and forming a shoulder angle with the same, wherein the shoulder angle is greater than 90°, and preferably greater than 100°. The cutting face runs at a radial rake angle with respect to an imaginary radial line which cuts the first cutting edge, the same functionally assigned to the cutting face. The radial rake angle is positive.

A drill includes a bar-shaped drill body, a major cutting edge which is located at a front end of the drill body and has a straight-line region in a front view, a rake surface located along the major cutting edge, and a chip discharge flute being extended spirally around a rotation axis of the drill body in a direction from the rake surface toward a rear end of the drill body. The rake surface has a flat region located along the straight-line region.

Machining system and cutting insert and methods

There is provided a machining assembly and cutting insert for machining metal or like workpieces, wherein the cutting insert body has a cutting end. The cutting end comprises at least one cutting edge and at least one cutting lip formed adjacent the at least one cutting edge. The at least one cutting lip includes at least one cutting protrusion and associated chip cutting edge to split the chip formed by the at least one cutting edge, for producing chips during machining which are of a width that is sufficiently reduced to allow proper evacuation or removal.

Step drill

The invention relates to a step drill having a shaft section extending along a longitudinal axis of the step drill and a cutting section with a cutting tip, and having a chip-breaking geometry which comprises a concavely curved surface and is configured such that ribbon chips are broken on the concavely curved surface during rotation of the step drill, whereby the chip-breaking geometry is disposed on a reaming step of the step drill.

A mini cutting bit includes a shank and a cutting part. The cutting part has a first spiral portion and a second spiral portion parallelly and twistedly formed thereon. The cutting part further has two chip removal flutes between the first and the second spiral portions. The first spiral portion has a first chip breaking flute on a top thereof while the second spiral portion has a second chip breaking flute. Widths of the first and the second chip breaking flutes are smaller than that of the tops of the first and the second spiral portions respectively.

DRILLING TOOL AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING A BOREHOLE

A drilling tool for producing a bore with a cylindrical inner wall can be rotatable in a rotary movement with a predetermined rotational direction (VD) about a tool axis (A) extending through the drilling tool, and at the same time is movable in an axial forward movement (VB) in a forward direction axially to the tool axis. The drilling tool comprises at least one drilling area (3) arranged in a forwardly located region of the drilling tool at a forward or free end, but preferably not having a thread forming region. The drilling area has a number n of drilling edges which are arranged offset to each other in the rotational direction, and at least one chip divider is arranged on at least one or each of the n drill cutting edges, where the chip divider forms an interruption of the respective drill cutting edge.

Drill insert

A metal cutting drill insert for a drill tool having a chip disruptor provided at a rake face. The chip disruptor is further configured with a chamfer at a leading cutting edge region to increase cutting resistance and facilitate chip breakage.
