A tool body to which a replaceable cutting insert is fixed includes: a holder: an insert mounting seat that is provided on a first surface of the holder; a clamp member that constrains the cutting insert placed on the insert mounting seat; and an operating member that presses a pressure receiving surface of the clamp member. The clamp member has the pressure receiving surface, a spherical head portion that is formed into a spherical crown shape, and a hook portion that protrudes to a side opposite to a side of the spherical head portion when seen from a side of the first surface. The insert mounting seat supports the clamp member to be swingable with the spherical head portion as a fulcrum, and the hook portion contacts a diameter reducing portion that is formed on an inner peripheral surface of an mounting hole for the cutting insert in a state in which the pressure receiving surface is pressed.

A cross hole deburring tool which performs rotary cutting on a cross hole burr occurring on a cross ridgeline part between a through path and an inner circumferential surface of a spherically-shaped hollow part. A tool main body includes a tip part and a shank, and the tip part has a shape obtained by setting a diameter axis of a circle, setting an eccentric axis parallel to the diameter axis and away therefrom by a predetermined eccentric distance, setting a closed region in a bow shape formed of a line segment obtained by cutting the eccentric axis by the circle and a minor arc on the circle by defining this line segment as a chord, setting an outer surface shape of a bow-shaped solid of revolution formed by rotating this bow shape about the eccentric axis, and taking this outer surface shape as the shape of the tip part.
SPHERICAL CUTTING TOOL, SYSTEM AND METHOD OF USING
The spherical cutting tool and method of using the same are centered in the novel integration of a sphere cutter, with a roller burnisher tool, which may be adjustable, and may further be contained in a system comprising several additional components such as an indexer and a lathe, mill, or custom machine. The tool of the invention may further comprise a drill, end mill, reamer, or other similar cutting tool on one end, with the sphere cutter and roller burnisher. The method of the invention is comprised of steps for using the tool and system of the invention in a novel way, including steps for manipulating and actuating the novel spherical cutting tool to engage the inner or outer surface(s) of a workpiece, using multiple cutting operations on a fixed or movable indexer, or machining using the tool, system, and methods of the invention. The system of the invention utilizes at least two machine drive units, such as a lathes or other rotary machines, in conjunctions with an indexer, to be configured as a system for pre-drilling, drilling, reaming, and cutting. The system may be configured as a system for spherical cutting and hole finishing using the tool of the invention.

The illustrative embodiment of the present invention uses a tangible three-dimensional structure as a fiducial mark, which structure is, at least partially, tolerant of dimensional variations in the article.
