METHOD AND DEVICE FOR ASCERTAINING THE ORIENTATION OF A DRILL RELATIVE TO A PLANE
A device for ascertaining the orientation of a drill relative to a plane, the device being capable of being connected to the drill, the device having a laser distance measuring unit by which, from a prespecified position relative to the plane, a first distance to a first point in the plane and a second distance to a second point in the plane can be measured, and having an evaluation unit that is configured such that on the basis of the first distance and the second distance the orientation of the device relative to the plane can be ascertained.
DRILL
The drill comprises a base body, which extends in the axial direction along an axis of rotation and rotates about the axis of rotation in a direction of rotation during operation. Into the base body are incorporated flutes and between consecutive flutes is formed a rear surface, which extends, in relation to the direction of rotation, from a leading flute to a trailing flute. On the rear surface in the region of the leading flute, a guide chamfer and a support chamfer spaced apart from it in the direction opposite the direction of rotation are formed, wherein the support chamfer, as radially outermost region, forms a support edge for a merely linear support.
Tool support incorporating a guidance system spaced apart from the tool and machining device incorporating the tool support
A tool support is disclosed including-a fixed part, a moving part that is movable relative to the fixed part, a first crossmember linked to the moving part and a second crossmember. A tool includes a tool axis linked to the first and second crossmembers by pivoting links including articulation axes. A pointer is provided with a pointer axis parallel to the tool axis, the pointer being linked to the first and second crossmembers by pivoting links including articulation axes, with the articulation axes being parallel to one another. The tool support includes an immobilizer of occupy a first immobilized state in which it prevents a rotational movement on at least one articulation axis and a second released state in which it allows rotational movement on the articulation axes.
HOLE SAW GUIDE
A general purpose hole saw guide and a method of forming holes through surfaces, without the need of a centering bit, are provided. The hole saw guide includes a circular disk with concentric grooves on its surface. The disk is transparent and portable for placement on a surface through which a hole is to be drilled to facilitate the centering and stabilizing control of a hole saw on the surface. The method includes the steps of providing a transparent disk having concentric grooves; positioning the disk on a surface; mounting the disk to the surface; inserting a hole saw that is fitted to a drill into the grooves of the disk; drilling a hole through the disk and surface beneath it; and removing the disk from the surface after the hole has been drilled.
COUNTERSINKING DEVICE AND ASSOCIATED METHOD
A countersinking device includes an internal bore positioner adapted for receipt by a bore defined by a workpiece. A driver rod engaged with the internal bore positioner extends outwardly of the bore through a bore opening. A centering chuck, engaged about and axially movable along the driver rod, is configured to engage the bore opening to cooperate with the internal bore positioner to align the driver rod along a longitudinal axis of the bore. A counterbore is engaged about the driver rod, opposite the centering chuck from the internal bore positioner. The counterbore is rotatable about and is configured to be axially advanced along the driver rod to engage the bore opening and countersink the bore. A countersink depth control arrangement is associated with the counterbore and cooperates therewith to countersink the bore to a predetermined depth. An associated method is also provided.
COUNTERBALANCE SYSTEM FOR UPPER HORIZONTAL SURFACE DRILLING OPERATIONS
A counterbalance system employs one or more springs to support a large motor drill on an upper horizontal work surface, for example on the tops of drill jigs or bushings. The counterbalance system supports the drill above the work surface where the counterbalance system can slide across the work surface to selectively position the drill over a drill bushing through which a drilling operation is to be performed. A user of the drill supported on the counterbalance system can then push downwardly on the drill to compress the spring and perform a drilling operation. On removal of the downward directed force exerted by the user of the drill, the spring pushes the drill upwardly to disengage the drill from the work surface. The user of the counterbalance system can then slide the counterbalance system and the drill across the top of the work surface.
