The body also comprises a first recess having a curved shape, wherein the first recess is disposed between the attachment portion and the extended end. The hand guard can prevent an operator's hand from being caught in a pinch area between a pipe cutting tool and the housing.

A pipe cutting apparatus having a hand guard is described. The hand guard comprises a body, the body including: a top surface having a curved shape; a bottom surface having a curved shape, wherein the top surface and the bottom surface form an extended end having a wedge shape; an engagement surface having a curved shape and extending from the bottom surface, and an attachment portion. The body also comprises a first recess having a curved shape, wherein the first recess is disposed between the attachment portion and the extended end. The hand guard can prevent an operator's hand from being caught in a pinch area between a pipe cutting tool and the housing.

A lathe or other rotating machine includes a tool rest on a carriage that is movable along the work piece. The carriage includes a post that is movable with the tool rest. The post supports a guard that is disposed between the user and the work piece. The guard may include a frame surrounding a transparent portion. The frame may support a plurality of light emitting elements directed onto the work piece. An extendable/retractable transparent portion may be extended from the guard between the user and the work piece. The extendable/retractable portion and/or the transparent portion may be a magnifier.

A lathe or other rotating machine includes a tool rest on a carriage that is movable along the work piece. The carriage includes a post that is movable with the tool rest. The post supports a guard that is disposed between the user and the work piece. The guard may include a frame surrounding a transparent portion. The frame may support a plurality of light emitting elements directed onto the work piece. An extendable/retractable transparent portion may be extended from the guard between the user and the work piece. The extendable/retractable portion and/or the transparent portion may be a magnifier.

A workpiece clamping device includes a chuck main body, multiple first chuck claws attached to the chuck main body, a second chuck claw attached to the chuck main body, and a driving source configured to move the first chuck claws and the second chuck claw to clamp a workpiece having a rectangular shape, in which the multiple first chuck claws each have a pair of first contact portions, are disposed at positions of different corners, respectively, on a rectangular workpiece, and bring each of the pair of first contact portions into contact with two sides forming the corner to hold the corner, and the second chuck claw has a second contact portion, and is configured to bring the second contact portion into contact with one side of the workpiece to hold the one side of the workpiece.

Lathe guard systems, remote lathe control systems, and portable lathe assembly kits including the same. The ramp guard includes a ramped surface, and the ring guard at least partially overlaps the tool slide assembly to prevent the formation of a pinch point between the tripper pin tower and the tool slide assembly. Remote lathe control systems include an operator pendant configured to enable remote operation of a portable lathe and a control tether extending from the operator pendant. In some examples, a portable lathe assembly kit includes a portable lathe in combination with a lathe guard system and/or a remote lathe control system.
