Apparatus and methods for improvement of surface geometries of internal channels of additively manufactured components

A cutting system for removing an excess material along a length of a channel constructed using an additive manufacturing process is disclosed. In various embodiments, the cutting system includes a cutter head; a cutter blade attached to the cutter head; a drive cable configured to rotate the cutter head; and a cutter base attached to the cutter head and having a cutter base outer surface configured to contact an internal surface within the channel to guide the cutter blade against the excess material.

A cutting insert includes: a body having at least an inner surface to be fixed to a tool body of a cutting tool and an outer surface opposed to the inner surface; and two cutting parts protruding in opposite directions in a longitudinal direction of the body. The cutting part includes: a cutting upper surface; a cutting front surface; and a first cutting side surface and a second cutting side surface. A front cutting edge is located on an edge between the cutting upper surface and the cutting front surface. In a projection view of the body as seen from the longitudinal direction, the cutting upper surfaces of the two cutting parts are oriented in directions opposed to each other, and front cutting edges of the two cutting parts are disposed so as to be more away from each other as being closer to the first cutting side surface from the second cutting side surface.

A cutting tip, a cutting tool and a gear edge cut-off device have greater ease-of-use than the conventional art. The cutting tip has a shaft portion supported linearly movably and forwardly biased in a linearly moving direction, an angular base portion provided at a front end of the shaft portion and having a pair of skirt faces and a ridge portion that extends obliquely with respect to the linearly moving direction, a groove depressed near the ridge portion of the skirt face, a blade edge on the cutting blade, positioned on a border line between the ridge portion and the groove, a rake face provided on the cutting blade and positioned further toward the groove side than the blade edge, and a flank face positioned further toward the ridge portion side than the blade edge and jutting out in the forward direction as it retracts from the blade edge.

Sealant composition

The instant invention provides a polyolefin composition suitable for sealant applications, sealant compositions, method of producing the same, and films and multilayer structures made therefrom. The polyolefin composition suitable for sealant applications according to the present invention comprises: an ethylene/α-olefin interpolymer composition having a Comonomer Distribution Constant (CDC) in the range of from 40 to 110, vinyl unsaturation of less than 0.1 vinyls per one thousand carbon atoms present in the backbone of the ethylene-based polymer composition; a zero shear viscosity ratio (ZSVR) in the range of from 1.01 to 2.0; a density in the range of from 0.908 to 0.922 g/cm.sup.3, a melt index (I.sub.2 at 190° C./2.16 kg) in the range of from 0.5 to 5.0 g/10 minutes, a molecular weight distribution (defined as the weight average molecular weight divided by the number average molecular weight, M.sub.w/M.sub.n) in the range of from 2.0 to 4.0, and tan delta at 0.1 radian/second, determined at 190° C., in the range of from 5 to 50.

A parting blade includes an internal cooling agent supply and has two substantially plane-parallel lateral faces and a continuous transversal bore connected to a cooling agent channel that runs parallel to the lateral faces in the interior of the parting blade. In order to provide a parting blade that has no projection on one side, a stopper is provided having two substantially parallel end faces and a circumferential face that connects the end faces. The stopper can be inserted into the transversal bore of the parting blade, thereby sealing the transversal bore relative to at least one lateral face of the parting blade. The stopper terminates without protruding over the sealed lateral face, flush with the lateral face. The stopper has an opening on both the end face and the circumferential face. The openings are connected to one another in the interior of the stopper to connect the cooling agent channel to a cooling agent source.
