The head outer peripheral surface is provided with a first flute and a second flute extending helically about the central axis from the head tip surface to reach the first attachment surface. The first flute and the second flute are symmetric with respect to the central axis. Each of the first flute and the second flute has a first end and a second end that face each other with a space between them in a circumferential direction along a circumference centered on the central axis.
MODULAR DRILL APPARATUS WITH CUTTING TIP IN SITU INSERT ASSEMBLY
A modular drill apparatus (100) includes: a shank (110) having a pocket (112); a cylindrical post (117) centrally secured within a bottom (114) of the pocket (112); a cutting tip (130) including a lower portion (131) including a central bore (136) which receives the cylindrical post (117), an upper portion (132) and a channel (134) therebetween; and an insert assembly (150) interfitted within and supported by the channel (134), the insert assembly (150) being expandable along a length thereof for securing the cutting tip (130) to the shank (110) within the pocket (112) by providing an interference fit and retractable along the length thereof for releasing the cutting tip (130) from the pocket (112) by overcoming the interference fit.
MODULAR DRILL AND METHOD FOR USING A MODULAR DRILL
A modular drill including a shank having a shank bore therein, a guide pin tip disposed in the shank bore, a cutting tip, and a connection shaft coupled to the cutting tip, the connection shaft having a connection shaft sidewall and a guide path therein for guiding the guide pin tip therethrough while the connection shaft moves through the shank bore.
MODULAR DRILL WITH ENHANCED BUMP-OFF CAPABILITY
A rotary cutting tool with enhanced bump-off capability is disclosed. The cutting tool includes a tool shank having a pocket. A replaceable cutting head is at least partially disposed within the pocket of the tool shank with an interference fit. A coupling pin assembly is at least partially received within a bore of the tool shank. The coupling pin assembly comprises a sleeve member and a coupling pin at least partially disposed within the sleeve member. The sleeve member includes an upper portion and a lower portion having a non-circular cross-sectional shape with a bump-off surface. An actuation screw contacts the coupling pin assembly and causes the replaceable cutting head to move relative to the tool shank. The bump-off surface of the lower portion of the sleeve member extends radially outward with respect to the coupling pin by a distance, D, thereby providing enhanced bump-off capability.
Rotary cutting tool and holding element for a rotary cutting tool
The described rotary cutting tool comprises a tool body extending along a rotational axis and a cutting insert comprising at least one cutting edge. The tool body is mounted in a mounting pocket delimited by two clamping fingers. A clamping finger bore is provided on each of the clamping fingers. The cutting insert also has a through bore. A holding element is arranged in the clamping finger bores and in the through bore to couple the cutting insert to the tool body. A section of the holding element located within the through bore is crowned. A holding element for such a rotary cutting tool is also presented.
Multi-Part Modular Tool
A multi-part modular tool rotatable about a longitudinal tool axis (A), comprising: a machining head; a first holding element comprising a body elongated along the longitudinal axis (A) of the tool, in which a passage extends along the longitudinal axis (A) of the tool; a second holding element which can extend in the passage of the first holding element; wherein the machining head can be connected to the second holding element in such a way that the machining head is fixed firmly to the first holding element at least in the axial direction (A) and/or in the radial direction (R), and wherein the passage of the first holding element and the second holding element are adapted to one another such that during a connection process in which the machining head is connected to the second holding element, the second holding element is movable relative to the first holding element.
INDEXABLE DRILL, CUTTING INSERT AND DRILL MAIN BODY
In an indexable drill, a cutting insert having a cutting edge is detachably mounted on an insert mounting seat of a drill main body. The insert mounting seat has a bottom surface facing a tip side of a drill main body, and a wall surface extending to the tip side and facing a drill rotation direction. The cutting insert has a seating surface seated on the bottom surface toward a rear end side of the drill main body, a contact surface coming into contact with the wall surface toward a side opposite to the drill rotation direction, a projection portion projecting to the side opposite to the drill rotation direction on a tip side of the contact surface, and a mounting hole penetrating the seating surface from a tip flank.
Insert holder and cutting tool assembly including the same
A cutting tool assembly includes a tool shank having a coupling opening, and an insert holder having an insert body to which an insert is coupled and detachably attached. A coupling protrusion protrudes from one surface of the insert body and is detachably coupled to the tool shank. Located on the coupling protrusion are a tapered contact portion which comes into contact with the coupling opening and provides a fixing force to fix the insert holder to the tool shank, and a contact surface at a rear end of the tapered contact portion which couples to a fastening member.
DRILLING TOOL
A drilling tool includes a cutting part and a clamping part. The cutting part includes a cutting portion and a connecting portion connected to a lower end of the cutting portion. The connecting portion has an outer peripheral surface, and the clamping part has an inner peripheral surface. A recess of the outer peripheral surface is spirally twisted into a protrusion of the inner peripheral surface in a direction of a central axis.
