MILLING TOOL, USE THEREOF AND MILLING PROCESS
A milling tool includes a cutting insert, a holder, a fastener and a shim. The fastener forms a first channel cooperatively with the cutting insert. The first channel is configured to direct coolant towards a top side of the insert. In order to better prevent thermal fatigue of the cutting insert under milling conditions, the shim includes a second channel configured to direct coolant towards a clearance side of the cutting insert. A method of using a milling tool and a milling process are also provided.
Cutting insert and cutting system comprising cutting insert
A cutting insert includes an upper surface having a circular cutting edge, a lower surface opposite the upper surface, an exterior sidewall between the upper surface and the lower surface, and an interior sidewall defining a hole extending from the upper surface to the lower surface. The interior sidewall includes an upper interior sidewall portion and a lower interior sidewall portion. The lower interior sidewall portion increases in radius with respect to a downward direction of the cutting insert. The lower interior sidewall portion includes a plurality of recessed portions positioned about a circumferential direction of the lower interior sidewall portion.
CUTTING INSERT AND CUTTING TOOL EQUIPPED WITH THE SAME
A cutting insert according to an embodiment of the present disclosure relates to a circular double-sided cutting insert including a top surface, a bottom surface, a lateral surface, and a cutting edge, and mounted to a cutting tool, in which a plurality of clearance surfaces and a plurality of fastening surfaces are located on the lateral surface, and among the plurality of fastening surfaces, a fastening surface, which is brought into contact with the cutting tool upon mounting of the cutting insert to the cutting tool, forms an acute angle with respect to the top surface or the bottom surface acting as a rake surface.
CUTTING TOOL COMPRISING TOOLHOLDER AND ROUND CUTTING INSERT AND METHOD FOR REPOSITIONING THE ROUND CUTTING INSERT IN A POCKET OF THE TOOLHOLDER
A cutting tool including a toolholder and a round cutting insert for mounting on a pocket floor of the toolholder. The toolholder includes the toolholder pocket floor having a bore therein and a plurality of grooves in the pocket floor arranged radially about the bore, wherein adjacent grooves are radially offset by a groove offset angle x. The round cutting insert includes an upper surface having a cutting edge, a lower surface opposite the upper surface, an exterior side surface between the upper surface and the lower surface, an interior side surface defining an aperture extending from the upper surface to the lower surface, and a plurality of lugs arranged radially about the aperture, wherein adjacent lugs are radially offset by a lug offset angle y, and wherein a ratio of y:x is an integer greater than or equal to 2.
Tool body of cutting tool for indexable inserts, and round milling insert
A cutting tool body for indexable inserts, and a round milling insert, are configured not to cause floating or rattling upon mounting the milling insert. The tool body includes a recessed portion for fitting one of a plurality of protrusions thereto, the protrusions being formed in the milling insert to protrude in the radial direction. The recessed portion has two inner surfaces having curved portions disposed so the distance between them gradually decreases at the contact area between the recessed portion and the protrusion fitted thereto. The milling insert includes protrusions protruding radially, any of which fit into a recessed portion on a mounting seat of the tool body. The protrusions each have two curved outer surfaces arranged so the distance between them gradually decreases toward a tip of the protrusion, at the contact area between the protrusion and the recessed portion into which the protrusion is fitted.
ROTARY CUTTING INSERT AND SUPPORT DEVICE
This invention relates to cutting tools used to machine materials to produce new surfaces and chips of removed material. Embodiments of this invention allow round rotating cutting inserts to be used in a more economical way, with improved accuracy, with improved sealing, and with greater ease of use. The rotary support device and cutting inserts may be used in either radial or tangential mounting types of cutters. It also provides a built-in, fully sealed means of fine adjustment of the cutting insert that is useful in some applications.
CUTTING TOOL AND A CUTTING INSERT FOR CHIP-REMOVING TOOL
A cutting tool has a tool body having at least one pocket, at least one cutting insert releasably fixed to the pocket and a fastening device for securing the insert in the pocket. The pocket has a raised portion) with a flat upper support face arranged to be received in a recess of the insert and support the insert by receiving a bottom surface of the recess bearing on the support face. A projecting member of the raised portion has delimiting walls designed to bear against border walls of the recess of an insert for establishing mutual contact therewith and prevent rotation of the insert in the pocket by receiving a rotational moment acting on the insert in an active chip-removing state of the tool.
Cutting insert, cutting tool and method for manufacturing cut product
A cutting insert includes an end cutting edge, a first major cutting edge, and a second major cutting edge. The height of the end cutting edge relative to an imaginary plane orthogonal to a central axis of a through-hole is fixed. The height of the first major cutting edge relative to the imaginary plane increases, when viewed from a side, moving away from the end cutting edge. The height of the second major cutting edge relative to the imaginary plane decreases, when viewed from a side, moving away from the first major cutting edge. When viewed from a side, the angle of inclination, relative to the imaginary plane, of an imaginary line connecting both ends of the second major cutting edge is greater than an angle of inclination, relative to the imaginary plane, of an imaginary line connecting both ends of the first major cutting edge.
CUTTING INSERT AND TOOL HOLDER ON WHICH CUTTING INSERT IS PROVIDED
Provided are a cutting insert and a tool holder on which the cutting insert is provided. The cutting insert includes a circular upper surface, a circular lower surface, a cylindrical lateral surface for connecting the upper surface and the lower surface, an upper cutting edge formed between the upper surface and the lateral surface, a lower cutting edge formed between the lower surface and the lateral surface, and a plurality of rotation-preventing parts provided at the lateral surface so as to prevent the cutting insert from rotating with respect to the tool holder. Each rotation preventing part includes an inner curved surface recessed toward the center of the lateral surface and convexly rounded so as to form concentric circles in conjunction with the lateral surface, and a stepped rotation-preventing surface parallel to the axial direction of the insert and connecting the inner curved surface and the lateral surface.
CUTTING TOOL
A cutting tool includes a cutting insert having an anti-rotation stopping indent formed in a transition between a bottom surface and a side surface thereof and includes a first stop surface. The insert seat has at least one anti-rotation stop, which protrudes with respect to a side wall of the insert seat and includes a second stop surface. The anti-rotation stop is arranged to inhibit rotation of the cutting insert in the insert seat by contact between the first and second stop surfaces. The second stop surface is completely located within the anti-rotation stopping indent when the cutting insert is mounted. As seen in a section perpendicular to a common central axis, an angle of less than 180° is formed between a tangent to the second stop surface and a tangent to the first duct at a transition between the two.
