Hob peeling tool and method for hard-fine machining of pre-toothed workpieces
A tool for hob peeling rotating workpieces having pre-machined teeth comprises a gear-wheel shaped main body and tooth-shaped cutting inserts (1.2) which at the end face in the region of the tip circle are disposed on the main body. Each cutting insert comprises at least one cutting tooth. The cutting tooth forms a cutting edge (6) which runs at least along one of the flanks of the cutting tooth, and a cutting face and a clearance face. The cutting face along the cutting edge is provided with a cutting face chamfer (7) which in relation to the cutting face (5.5) runs so as to be inclined by a chamfer angle. The chamfer angle varies along the cutting edge. Moreover, the cutting edge is rounded by a radius.
Cutting insert and cutting tool comprising cutting insert
A cutting tool includes a toolholder and a cutting insert. The toolholder includes a toolholder pocket having a pocket wall including a first anti-rotation engagement surface and a second anti-rotation engagement surface. The cutting insert is mounted in the toolholder pocket. The cutting insert includes: an upper surface, the upper surface having a plurality circular sinusoidal cutting edges; a lower surface opposite the upper surface; and an exterior sidewall between the upper surface and the lower surface. The first anti-rotation engagement surface and the second anti-rotation engagement surface of the pocket wall of the toolholder engage the exterior sidewall of the cutting insert to resist rotation of cutting insert.
CUTTING INSERT AND CUTTING TOOL COMPRISING CUTTING INSERT
A cutting tool includes a toolholder and a cutting insert. The toolholder includes a toolholder pocket having a pocket wall including a first anti-rotation engagement surface and a second anti-rotation engagement surface. The cutting insert is mounted in the toolholder pocket. The cutting insert includes: an upper surface, the upper surface having a plurality circular sinusoidal cutting edges; a lower surface opposite the upper surface; and an exterior sidewall between the upper surface and the lower surface. The first anti-rotation engagement surface and the second anti-rotation engagement surface of the pocket wall of the toolholder engage the exterior sidewall of the cutting insert to resist rotation of cutting insert.
Indexable cutting tool
An indexable cutting tool stably clamps cutting inserts and prevents contact between head parts of fasteners and workpieces. Recesses with a bottom are formed in an upper surface of a cutting insert. Part of an inner wall surface of each recess curves and bulges toward a center axis of the recess. The recess is divided into first to fourth regions by a first imaginary reference plane parallel to a rotation axis of a body, and a second imaginary reference plane perpendicular to the rotation axis. The second region is on a center side and on a proximal side of the body. A tapered surface of a fastener contacts the curved surface within the second region. A center axis of the fastener inclines so a head part opposite a distal end part is closer to the center side and to the proximal side of the body than the distal end part.
Cutting insert
A cutting insert has a cutting edge formed on part of an intersecting ridge line portion of an upper face or a lower face and a side face. The cutting edge includes a major cutting edge, a minor cutting edge, and a connecting cutting edge that connects the major cutting edge and the minor cutting edge. A minor cutting edge flank that is part of the side face and that corresponds to the minor cutting edge includes a first minor cutting edge flank that connects to the minor cutting edge and that has a clearance angle of 0°, and a second minor cutting edge flank that connects to the first minor cutting edge flank and that has a clearance angle of a negative value. A connecting cutting edge flank that is part of the side face and that corresponds to the connecting cutting edge includes a first connecting cutting edge flank that connects to the connecting cutting edge and that has a clearance angle of 0° or greater, and a second connecting cutting edge flank that connects to the first connecting cutting edge flank and has a clearance angle that is greater than the clearance angle of the first connecting cutting edge flank.
MILLING CUTTER
A milling cutter includes a milling drum having a body with a first end, a second end, an outer surface extending around a circumference of the body between the first and second ends, and a plurality of slots formed in the outer surface. The plurality of slots arranged in a staggered row between the first end and the second end of the body. The milling cutter also includes a plurality of cutting insert removably secured to the body. Each cutting insert is positioned at least partially within one of the plurality of slots and includes a cutting profile defined by rounded peaks and pointed valleys to cut a tooth form into a saw blade. The plurality of cutting inserts are staggered such that the plurality of cutting inserts are circumferentially offset from each other along a longitudinal axis of the milling drum.
CUTTING INSERT
A cutting insert has a cutting edge formed on part of an intersecting ridge line portion of an upper face or a lower face and a side face. A connecting cutting edge flank that is part of the side face and that corresponds to the connecting cutting edge includes a first connecting cutting edge flank that connects to the connecting cutting edge and that has a clearance angle of 0 or greater, and a second connecting cutting edge flank that connects to the first connecting cutting edge flank and has a clearance angle that is greater than the clearance angle of the first connecting cutting edge flank.
INDEXABLE CUTTING TOOL
An indexable cutting tool that allows for stable clamping of cutting inserts and prevents contact between head parts of fastening members and workpieces is provided. Recesses with a bottom are formed in an upper surface of the cutting insert. At least part of an inner wall surface of the recess is a curved surface bulged toward a center axis of the recess. When the recess is divided into four, first to fourth, regions by a first imaginary reference plane parallel to a rotation axis of a body and a second imaginary reference plane perpendicular to the rotation axis, the second region is located on a center side and on a proximal side of the body. A tapered surface of the fastening member makes contact with the curved surface within the second region. A center axis line of the fastening member is inclined such that the head part opposite from a distal end part is located closer to the center side and to the proximal side of the body than the distal end part.
Groover with peening flanks
According to one aspect of this disclosure, a grooving tool is provided. The grooving tool has a body with a plurality of recesses. Plural inserts assembled into each of the recesses. The recesses include a cutting edge for forming grooves in an engine cylinder wall when rotated in one rotational direction. The insert also includes a peening surface extending in the opposite rotational direction from the cutting edge for deforming the upper edges of the grooves when rotated in an opposite rotational direction.
INDEXABLE TANGENTIAL CUTTING INSERTS AND CUTTING TOOL HOLDERS
Cutting tool systems including a tool holder and tangential cutting inserts are disclosed. The tangential cutting inserts have indexable cutting edges that may be sinusoidal-shaped and helical-shaped. The tangential cutting inserts have integrated fan and base portions. The tool holders comprise a plurality of insert pockets structured and arranged to receive the indexable tangential cutting inserts. The cutting tool systems provide cutting tools with effectively longer sinusoidal and helical cutting edges at their cutting rake faces and a strong support when seating in insert-receiving pockets on the tool holder.
