In one embodiment, a cutting tool includes an insert that includes a cutting edge at at least one part of a portion where two surfaces intersect. The cutting tool further includes a holder capable of rotating about a rotational axis. The holder includes a pocket including: a placement portion where the insert is positioned; and a cutout portion is adjacent to the placement portion and positioned further forward in a rotational direction than the placement portion. The holder further includes an inflow port that opens at at least one part of the holder, a first flow path positioned in the interior of the holder, and an outflow port positioned at the pocket. The cutout portion includes a recessed portion.

Ball end mill

A ball end mill, which includes long and short cutting edges alternately formed, shows excellent chip discharge performance without sacrificing strength. An even number of cutting edges are formed at intervals in a circumferential direction on a front end of an end mill body rotated about an axis and have rotation trajectories formed around the axis that form a hemispherical shape. The cutting edges adjacent to each other in the circumferential direction with one cutting edge interposed are long cutting edges that intersect with each other on the axis. The other cutting edges adjacent to each other in the circumferential direction with one cutting edge interposed are short cutting edges that include inner peripheral ends at positions distant from the axis. A gash of the long cutting edge and a gash of the short cutting edge connect with each other on a front end side of the end mill body.

Milling tool

A face milling tool includes a tool body having a central rotation axis around which the tool is rotatable, and at least one insert seat formed in a transition between a front end and an envelope surface of the tool. The tool further includes at least one cutting insert mounted in the insert seat, the cutting insert having an upper side defining an upper extension plane, a cutting edge extending around the circumference of the upper side, and a lower side defining a lower extension plane directed towards the bottom support surface of the insert seat. A center axis extends perpendicularly through the upper and the lower extension planes. The tool is configured such that a main cutting edge portion is at an entering angle κ smaller than 80° and such that the upper extension plane is at a radial tipping-in angle −60°≦γ.sub.f≦−25° and at an axial tipping-in angle −20°≦γ.sub.m≦0°, such that an angle of inclination λ of the main cutting edge portion is within the range 15°≦λ≦50°.

Ball end mill

A ball end mill according to the present invention includes an end mill body which is formed in a shaft shape, a plurality of convex arcuate end cutting edges which are disposed on a tip portion of the end mill body at intervals around an axis and form a hemispherical shape such that a rotational locus around the axis has a center on the axis, and a plurality of gashes which are respectively disposed to be adjacent to the plurality of end cutting edges in an end mill rotation direction around the axis. The plurality of end cutting edges includes a first end cutting edge longest among the plurality of end cutting edges, a second end cutting edge which is adjacent to the first end cutting edge in the end mill rotation direction and a third end cutting edge which is adjacent to the second end cutting edge in the end mill rotation direction.

ROTARY CUTTER FOR MACHINING MATERIALS

Novel endmills are provided. Such endmills have a body with outside diameter (OD), and outer surface, and a longitudinal axis, a plurality of flutes, helical in some embodiments. Flutes include a narrow leading edge land portion with circular segment profile and having flute cutting edge portions along a substantially uniform circumferential location, with an eccentric relief margin rotationally rearward of the narrow leading edge land portions. Face portions are provided with face cutting edge portions, and with a first dish portion adjacent each of the cutting edge portions sloping inwardly and downwardly generally toward a central longitudinal axis at a first dish angle alpha (α). Corner blend portions extend from flute cutting edge portions to the face cutting edge portions. Corner blend portions are provided in a variety of profiles, including an embodiment wherein the profile of the corner blend portions are truncated before the segment of curvature becomes tangential to the face cutting edge portions. In various embodiments, one or more coolant passageways are provided, and in an embodiment, an exit port for coolant is provided at the center of rotation of the end face portion.

Cutting insert and shoulder millng tool

A cutting insert and a shoulder milling tool are disclosed. The cutting insert includes a surface-wiping secondary cutting edge inclined in relation to a median plane of the cutting insert such that a distance to the median plane decreases in a direction toward a corner cutting edge. The corner cutting edge, as seen in a side view along the median plane and towards a main cutting edge, has a concave curve.
