END MILL
An end mill includes end cutting edges located at a front end side of a cutting edge portion of a body including rotation axis, peripheral cutting edges, and helically extending flutes. Each of the peripheral cutting edges and the flutes are alternately located from the front end side to a rear end side, and a first distance between a deepest position of the flute and the rotation axis is equal among the respective flutes in a cross section taken along the rotation axis. The flute includes a first region located at a side of the peripheral cutting edge and includes the deepest position, a second region located at a side of a heel, and a boundary. A second distance from the rotation axis to the boundary located at the rear end side is larger than the second distance located at the front end side.
Variable Core Diameter Cutting Tool and Method for Producing the Same
The present invention concerns a pressed cutting tool comprising a variable core diameter, a mold and a method for producing the cutting tool by pressing. Said cutting tool preferably comprises a shaft and a part comprising one or more helical flutes, wherein low points or lines in said flutes define the shape of said core. In a preferred embodiment, said core is conical. In a preferred embodiment, said cutting tool is an end mill and/or a drill.
End mill having teeth and associated flutes with correlated physical parameters
An end mill includes a plurality of teeth and flutes. The teeth and their associated flutes include one or more correlated physical parameters. One such correlated parameter is that, at an axial location in a front half of an effective cutting length, at least one tooth of the plurality of teeth has a rake angle smaller than an average rake angle value of the plurality of teeth, and, at the same axial location, a flute preceding each such tooth has a helix angle larger than an average helix angle value of the plurality of flutes.
ROTARY CUTTING TOOL HAVING CHIP SPACE IN PROPORTION TO FEED-PER-TOOTH
A rotary cutting tool that implements a chip space in proportion to a feed-per-tooth is proposed. The rotary cutting tool includes a cutting part in which a plurality of cutting teeth and flutes are alternately formed, wherein a cross-section of the cutting part perpendicular to a central axis is divided into a plurality of cutting tooth spaces defining a section between cutting edges of adjacent cutting teeth on the basis of the central axis, such that all of the cutting tooth spaces are designed in different sizes, or some of the plurality of cutting tooth spaces are set in different sizes from the other cutting tooth spaces.
Insert and cutting tool
An insert may include a base member and a resin layer located on the base member. The base member may include a first surface, a second surface, and a cutting edge. The first surface includes a rake surface region. The second surface may be adjacent to the first surface and includes a flank surface region. The cutting edge may be located in at least a part of a ridge line at which the first surface intersects with the second surface. The resin layer may not be located on the second surface but may be located on the first surface.
TAPERED END MILL
A tapered end mill includes an outer circumferential cutting edge, a flute is disposed such that a flute bottom radius defined as a distance between a flute bottom and the tool axis decreases from a shank side toward the tool tip side, the flute bottom radius linearly changes at a predetermined gradient angle in the tool axis direction, the gradient angle changes at a predetermined change point to become smaller on the tool tip side as compared to the shank side, and a gradient angle θ1 on the tool tip side relative to the change point is equal to or larger than 0° and smaller than a taper half angle α of a cutting portion provided with the outer circumferential cutting edge, and a gradient angle θ2 on the shank side relative to the change point is larger than the taper half angle α.
Rotary cutting body having insert pocket with seat surface provided with a plurality of abutment elements and rotary cutting tool
A cutting body rotatable about a tool axis has an insert receiving pocket with a seat surface at an axial forward end thereof. The seat surface has a plurality of abutment elements, including an axial abutment element having an axially forward facing abutment surface and at least one radial abutment element. In a top view of the insert receiving pocket, the axially forward facing abutment surface forms an external acute clamping angle with a radially outward facing pocket wall. A rotary cutting tool includes the cutting body, and a cutting insert removably secured in the insert receiving pocket, having a base surface in contact with the seat surface. The at least one radial abutment element occupies or is occupied by at least one radial abutting element of the base surface, and the axially forward facing abutment surface is in contact with an axial abutting surface of the base surface.
