T-shaped cutter, rib-machining method and airplane part

On the perimeter of a head (14) that is bonded on one end of the shank (12) of a T-shaped cutter, multiple end cutting edge sections (16) with a cutting edge (16a) on the tip side of the T-shaped cutter (10) and multiple upper edge sections (18) with a cutting edge (18a) on the base end side are disposed alternating in the circumferential direction of the T-shaped cutter. The cutting edges (16a, 18a) of the end cutting edge sections (16) and the upper edge sections (18) form an integral structure with the shank (12) and the head (14).

A T-slot cutter (1) is a tool for cutting a T-groove in a workpiece, and includes a body (2A) and an insert portion (3). The insert portion (3) is fixed to a leading end portion of the body (2A) using screws (8). The insert portion (3) is configured by overlaying inserts (4) and (5). By changing a combination of the inserts configuring the insert portion (3), a groove width and an angular shape of the T-groove cut in the workpiece can be easily adjusted. On mating faces of the inserts (4, 5), convex portions and concave portions of the mating face of the insert (4) overlap with concave portions and convex portions of the mating face of the insert (5). As a result, the inserts (4, 5) partially overlap with each other in a thickness direction, and thus a protrusion length of the insert portion (3) can be shortened.

A router bit for use with a turning implement comprising a router bit body having a shank body adjacent a cutting body for forming a key hole in a work piece. The shank body has an outer surface configured to be received by the turning implement. The cutting body has a body portion that spans between a tapered head portion and a tapered end portion, the tapered end portion attached to the shank body. The tapered head portion has a plunge cutting surface that forms a first acute angle with the longitudinal axis. The shank body has a diameter that is smaller than the diameter of the tapered head portion. The tapered end portion has a diameter that varies along its length from the shank body to the tapered head portion to reduce breakage of the router bit body during use. A wing may be attached to the cutting body.
