A resistance spot welding method includes the steps of: removing at least part of oil on a surface of a welding target material by energization between a pair of electrodes; and after the oil removal step, forming a nugget in an overlapped portion of the welding target material by energization between the pair of electrodes.

Method for monitoring and controlling a quality of spot welds

The disclosure concerns a method for monitoring and/or controlling a quality of spot weldings of a processing island, comprising at least two welding controls on one or more workpieces, wherein the method is based on a comparing of the measured values and an outputting of a fault message taking place from a central control of the processing island, the central control being in communicating connection with every welding control, in order to control them appropriately in dependence on all of the measured values and the predefined tolerance margin, the welding controls being in communicating connection with one another.

EXPULSION DETECTION METHOD IN ELECTRIC RESISTANCE WELDING AND APPARATUS THEREFOR

In electric resistance welding for energizing a workpiece formed by superimposing plural metal plates, an energization resistance reduction amount between a pair of electrodes pressurizing the workpiece is detected at a specified time interval during each welding process under a specified welding condition, frequency distribution of the energization resistance reduction amount under the welding condition is calculated on the basis of data relating to the energization resistance reduction amount, the frequency distribution is fitted with a Gaussian function, and occurrence of an expulsion under the welding condition is determined on the basis of whether the fitting is statistically significant.

The present disclosure also relates to a corresponding method and computer program product.

RESISTANCE SPOT WELDING METHOD AND WELD MEMBER PRODUCTION METHOD

A resistance spot welding method comprises: performing test welding; and performing actual welding after the test welding, wherein in main current passage in the actual welding, adaptive control welding is performed, and in subsequent current passage in the actual welding, current passage is performed by constant current control with a current determined based on an electrical property between electrodes in each of main current passage in the test welding and the main current passage in the actual welding.

Resistance spot welding method

A stored time variation curve and cumulative amount of heat generated of each step are each used as a target. In the case where a time variation of an instantaneous amount of heat generated per unit volume differs from the time variation curve in any of the steps, a current passage amount is controlled in order to compensate for the difference within a remaining welding time in the step so that a cumulative amount of heat generated per unit volume in actual welding matches the stored cumulative amount of heat generated in the test welding. Further, in the case where expulsion is detected in any of the steps, then in subsequent welding, the cumulative amount of heat generated per unit volume used as the target is reduced, and the current passage amount is adjusted in accordance with the reduced cumulative amount of heat generated per unit volume.

There is described a continuity sensing system that operates with a resistance-welding machine. This sensing system measures continuity between the welding electrodes after the welding machine has been initiated and prevents application of high electrode force between the electrodes if the continuity measured is below a reference level. The result is a fully passive system that prevents serious high electrode force that would cause serious pinch-point injury to the operator of the welder. The present invention also includes methods of controlling pneumatic systems on resistance-welding machines to apply low force between welding electrodes until continuity between the welding electrodes has been detected.
