20230046415 · 2023-02-16 ·

A method of joining dissimilar metal, golf club components, and particularly golf club bodies, hosels, and faces, using a projection resistance welding process is disclosed herein. The method may include the step of applying an interlayer material before the projection resistance weld process occurs.

Cutting machine for resizing raw implants during surgery

Provided is a method for forming an implant with an autonomous manufacturing device. The method includes accessing a first computer-readable reconstruction of a being's anatomy; accessing a second computer-readable reconstruction of an implant; accessing a third computer-readable reconstruction comprising the first computer-readable reconstruction superimposed with the second computer readable reconstruction; generating at least one computer-readable trace from a point cloud; and forming an implant with an autonomous manufacturing device, wherein the autonomous manufacturing device forms the implant into a shape defined by at least one dimension of the computer-readable trace.

Adhesive bonded composite-to-metal hybrid vanes and method of manufacture

The present disclosure provides methods and systems for composite-to-metal hybrid bonded structures compromising the laser surface treatment on titanium alloys to promote adhesive bond performance. For example, a computer may be programmed to set a laser path corresponding to a predetermined geometric pattern. A laser may be coupled to the computer and apply a pulsed laser beam to a contact surface of the titanium alloy along the predefined geometric pattern. The laser may generate an open pore oxide layer on the contact surface of the substrate with a thickness of 100 and 500 nm. The open pore oxide layer may have a topography corresponding to the predefined geometric pattern. The topography may contain high degree of open pore structure and promote adhesive bond performance. Adhesive, primer or composite resin matrix may fully infiltrate into the open pore structures. Adhesive and composite laminate may co-cure to form composite-to-titanium hybrid bonded structures.

LASER ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING METHOD FOR PRODUCING POROUS LAYERS

Provided herein are manufacturing methods, e.g., comprising: (1a) forming a layer, including: depositing a starting material including a mixture of a metal and a sacrificial material; and applying a laser beam to the deposited starting material to consolidate the deposited starting material and form the layer; (1b) optionally repeating (1a) one or more times; and (1c) at least partially removing the sacrificial material to form a porous metal part.

Provided is a fluid-cooled contact tip assembly that can be used in methods and systems for manufacturing objects by solid freeform fabrication, especially titanium and titanium alloy objects, where the deposition rate is increased by increasing the flow rate of electric charge through the metal wire.

Method of manufacturing TiAl alloy impeller and TiAl alloy impeller

A method of manufacturing a TiAl alloy impeller includes a blank preparation step in which a blank of the TiAl alloy impeller is prepared, wherein the blank has a shaft portion and a plurality of blades, and a thickness of an outer edge of each of the blades of the blank is set so as to be larger than a thickness of an outer edge of a blade of the TiAl alloy impeller, and an additional work step in which an additional work is performed on each of the blades of the blank. In the additional work step, the additional work is performed on a first surface of a portion that includes at least the outer edge of each of the blades or the first surface and a second surface of the portion thereof.

Pre-Welding Analysis and Associated Laser Welding Methods and Fiber Lasers Utilizing Pre-selected Spectral Bandwidths that Avoid the Spectrum of an Electronic Transition of a Metal/Alloy Vapor
20230001509 · 2023-01-05 ·

The present invention benefits from the determination that pre-selected spectral bandwidths that avoid the spectrum of an electronic transition of a metal/alloy vapor allow for welds substantially free from detritus that may discolor the weld. Accordingly, the present invention provides analytical methods, welding methods and fiber lasers configured to provide high quality metal/alloy welds.

ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING METHOD USING A FOCUSED ENERGY SOURCE, SAID METHOD BEING REGULATED ACCORDING TO THE INTENSITY OF A CONTROL CURRENT OF SAID FOCUSED ENERGY SOURCE
20230013374 · 2023-01-19 ·

A method for manufacturing a component by stacking layers of material that are each obtained by depositing and melting, continuously, a material by virtue of an energy beam of which at least one feature is controlled by a control current intensity. The manufacturing method includes a step of monitoring the control current intensity, a step of comparing the monitored control current intensity with a given threshold and a step of stopping the manufacturing method when the control current intensity is above the given threshold. This momentary stopping of the method makes it possible to significantly reduce the risks of energy runaway liable to destroy the deposited material bead and the neighboring structure.
