GRANULAR WELDING FLUX DELIVERY DEVICES AND STRIP CLADDING SYSTEMS WITH GRANULAR WELDING FLUX DELIVERY DEVICES

Granular welding flux delivery devices and strip cladding systems with granular welding flux delivery devices are disclosed. A disclosed example granular welding flux delivery device includes a hopper having: an intake opening to receive granular welding flux; a chute; and an output opening to output the granular welding flux to an electroslag strip cladding process, a submerged arc welding process, or a submerged arc strip cladding process. The example granular welding flux delivery device further includes a chute divider positioned within the chute to reduce an intake rate of granular material through the intake opening by reducing a cross-section of the chute based on a dimension of the chute divider. The disclosed example granular welding flux delivery device includes an adjustable output cover attached to the chute proximate to the output opening to extend or retract a length of the chute by adjusting a location of the output opening along the chute.

Submerged arc welding systems and submerged arc welding torches to resistively preheat electrode wire

Submerged arc welding torches and systems to resistively preheat electrode wire are disclosed. A disclosed example submerged arc welding torch includes: a first contact tip configured to transfer weld current and preheating current to the wire; a second contact tip configured to conduct the preheating current to the wire; an air-cooled first conductive body portion configured to receive the weld current and to conduct the weld current and the preheating current to the first contact tip; an air-cooled second conductive body portion configured to receive the preheating current and to conduct the preheating current to the second contact tip; and an insulator coupled between the first and second conductive body portions.

Disclosed herein are embodiments of alloys configured to form a coating with two contrasting physical behaviors: 1) reduced hardness with the end result of an easily machinable coating and 2) high abrasion resistance. Generally low hardness will result in low abrasion resistance. However, embodiments of the alloys described herein are able to maintain a low hardness while exhibiting higher abrasion resistance.

A method for manufacturing a laminated core includes a laminating process of obtaining a laminate in which a plurality of core pieces are laminated, and a welding process of forming a weld bead which extends in a thickness direction of the laminate on a side surface of the laminate. In the welding process, a heat input when a center portion in a longitudinal direction of the weld bead is formed is greater than a heat input when an end portion of the weld bead is formed.
