Weld training systems with resettable target tool images

Described herein are examples of weld training systems that show (e.g., transparent and/or translucent) “ghost” images of a welding tool on a display screen of a welding headgear to indicate target positions and/or target orientations of an actual welding tool. In some examples, the weld training systems may additionally “reset” the target tool image to a position closer to the actual welding tool if the target tool image gets too far away. The ability to “reset” the target tool image to a position closer to the actual welding tool may help in minimizing a risk that an operator 106 will overcompensate to try to catch up with the target tool image, which can be detrimental to the weld. Additionally, resetting the target tool image to a position closer the welding tool may allow an operator to better perceive and/or understand differences in orientation and/or other technique parameters.

WELDING TOOL FOR PERFORMING SMAW OR MIG WELD WITH MANTENANCE OFA CONSTANT DISTANCE BETWEEN THE ELECTODE AND THE WELD AREA

A welding tool comprises a main body; a handle attached to the main body to be held by a welder; an electrode attached to the main body; an adjusting device for moving the consumable electrode forward/backward with respect to the main body; a control unit is connected to the adjusting device and is configured to act on the adjusting device for maintaining a substantially constant distance between the electrode and a weld area.

Multi-process torch

Aspects of a welding-type cable and torch are provided. The welding-type cable includes a power conductor to conduct welding-type power and a weld torch interface on a distal end of the welding-type cable to attach a weld torch to the power conductor. The welding-type torch includes a power connector to transfer welding-type power between the welding-type torch and a power conductor of a welding-type cable that is detachably coupled to the power connector. An electrode to perform a welding-type operation using the welding-type power is also provided.

A welding apparatus can comprise an electrode holder configured to removably receive a consumable electrode and an actuator configured to move the electrode holder. The apparatus can comprise a base and an arm having first and second ends, where the first end is coupled to the arm such that the arm extends in a first direction that is angularly disposed relative to the base. The base can be configured to be placed relative to a workpiece such that the second end of the arm is disposed further from the workpiece than is the first end and the electrode, when received by the electrode holder, extends from the electrode holder toward the workpiece. A controller can be configured to adjust a rate at which the actuator moves the electrode holder relative to the arm, optionally based at least in part on an arc voltage measured across the electrode and the workpiece.

DETACHABLE PORTABLE WELDING TOOLS AND SET

Pliers for cleaning a welding gun nozzle include a right and left handle. The right handle is configured to operate a top left gripping end and a bottom right nozzle cleaner. The left handle is configured to operate a top right gripping end and a bottom left nozzle cleaner. The right handle are hingedly fixed together about a connection point. When the left handle and the right handle are closed, the top left gripping end and the top right gripping end are configured to squeeze together and the bottom right nozzle cleaner and the bottom left nozzle cleaner are configured to spread apart. And, when the left handle and the right handle are opened, the top left gripping end and the top right gripping end are configured to spread apart and the bottom right nozzle cleaner and the bottom left nozzle cleaner are configured to come together.

SYSTEM AND METHOD TO SWITCH BETWEEN ELECTRICALLY ISOLATED WELDING OUTPUT STUDS BY SENSING AN ELECTRODE TOUCH
20210069815 · 2021-03-11 ·

Embodiments of welding machines and methods for switching between electrically isolated welding output studs. One embodiment of a welding machine includes multiple welding output studs, a work stud, a contactor circuit, touch sense circuitry, and a contactor controller. The contactor controller is configured to determine that electrical contact has occurred between a first welding output stud of the multiple welding output studs and the work stud via the touch sense circuitry. The contactor controller is also configured to deactivate welding output power to other welding output studs of the multiple welding output studs via the contactor circuit based on determining that the electrical contact has occurred. The contactor controller is further configured to activate welding output power to the first welding output stud via the contactor circuit after deactivating the other welding output studs based on determining that the electrical contact has occurred.
