IDENTIFICATION MODULE FOR KEY MAKING MACHINE
An identification module is disclosed for use in a key making machine. The identification module may have a key receiving assembly configured to receive only a shank of an existing key. The identification module may also have a tip guide, configured to receive a tip of the shank of the existing key. The tip guide may have a slot that exposes a tip end of the shank. The identification module may also have an imaging assembly configured to capture an image of the tip end through the slot.

Detachable Identification Key Head
A system and method for a key, comprising a key blade having a socket that releasably engages a key head. A method includes cutting an original key head from an original key, forming a socket onto a cut end of the key blade, and attaching a key head onto the socket.
KEY DUPLICATION SYSTEM
A key-duplicating system comprises a network that includes a multiplicity of kiosks at a multiplicity of different locations, each of the kiosks having a customer interface and a processor coupled to the customer interface. A remote central server coupled to the kiosks is adapted to receive, from the kiosks, information identifying master keys to be duplicated. A key analysis module uses the information identifying master keys to be duplicated to derive information required to produce duplicates of the identified master keys, and a key duplicating module uses that information to produce duplicates of said identified master keys

Fabrication system for key making machine
A fabrication system is disclosed for use in a key making machine. The fabrication system may have a housing with a slot configured to receive a key blank, and a receiving unit configured to accept a shank of the key blank at the slot. The receiving unit may be configured to mechanically align the shank as it is inserted by a user. The fabrication system may also have a clamp movable between an open position and a closed position, and an actuator. The actuator may be configured to move the receiving unit and the key blank to the clamp, and to move the receiving unit away from the key blank after the clamp has moved to the closed position.
Key cutting and duplicating apparatus having multiple cutting implements and probes
A key cutting and decoding apparatus positions a key blank relative to two distinct, independently movable key cutters and decoding probes. A frame includes a reference axis extending longitudinally from the front of the frame to the rear of the frame. Two locking slots hold removable key blank holders upon a carriage assembly. The carriage assembly is arranged for movement along both an X-axis, generally axial direction of the reference axis, and a Y-axis, generally transverse to the reference axis of the frame. A first cutting assembly moves a cutting drill vertically, along a Z-axis generally orthogonal to each of the reference axis, the X-axis and the Y-axis. A second cutting assembly moves a cutting wheel rotationally, about a rotational axis orthogonal to the Z-axis.
HIGH SECURITY KEY SCANNING SYSTEM
A high security key scanning system and method is provided. The scanning system may comprise a sensing device configured to determine information and characteristics of a master high security key, and a digital logic to analyze the information and characteristics of the master key. The sensing device may be configured to capture information about the geometry of features cut into the surface of the master key. The logic may analyze the information related to that geometry and compare it to known characteristics of that style of high security key in order to determine the data needed to replicate the features on a new high security key blank. The system may be configured to capture the surface geometry using a camera or other imaging device. The system may utilize object coating techniques, illumination techniques, filtering techniques, image processing techniques, and feature extraction techniques to capture the desired features.
