APPARATUS AND METHOD TO PRESS ARTICLES ON COMPONENTS OF VEHICLE ASSEMBLY
An apparatus and method for pressing articles on components of a vehicle assembly is provided. The apparatus includes a support fixture, a driving mechanism coupled to the support fixture, and a sensor coupled to the support fixture. The apparatus detects a component that includes a receiving section and controls the sensor to determine a height of the receiving section with respect to a datum of the component, based on the detection. The apparatus computes an offset distance with respect to the determined height and actuates the driving mechanism based on the offset distance. Based on the actuation, the driving mechanism moves an actuator to a first position in proximity of the receiving section. The driving mechanism further actuates to displace the actuator from the first position to a second position, which causes the actuator to apply a force on an article, causing the article to mate with the receiving section.
Vehicle disassembly system and method
A vehicle disassembly system for disassembling a vehicle by moving the vehicle through a plurality of discrete workstations specifically adapted for select de-pollution and dismantling procedures encountered during the end-of-life vehicle recycling process. A vehicle disassembly system exemplifying the principles of the present invention may comprise a primary de-pollution and disassembly line and an engine disassembly line. The primary de-pollution and disassembly line may include one or more de-pollution stations, one or more intermediate, part removal stations, and a conveyor apparatus for transmitting the end-of-life vehicle from the de-pollution stations to the part removal stations. The engine disassembly line may include an overhead track support frame, a trolley assembly, one or more height adjustable loading tables, one or more height adjustable work tables, and one or more height adjustable un-loading tables. The vehicle disassembly system may also comprise an engine cleaning apparatus positioned proximate to the height adjustable un-loading tables of the engine disassembly line.
Handling device for servicing a piston with a small end attached to the piston via a piston pin
A handling device for servicing a piston with a small end attached to the piston via a piston pin, having a basic frame, a receiving device that is pivotable or tiltable relative to the basic frame for the piston removed from an internal combustion engine, an actuator for pivoting or tilting the receiving device relative to the basic frame, and a locking device via which the receiving device is lockable on the basic frame in different pivot positions or tilting positions.
Multi-part crankcase and assembly method
Described is a crankcase and a method for assembling a multi-part crankcase. The method can include providing a cylinder block and a bearing tunnel upper part. The cylinder block has a plurality of threaded holes into each of which a stud screw is screwed, where the stud screws protrude from the cylinder block. The bearing tunnel upper part has a plurality of through-holes, where each of the through-holes is arranged coaxially to a corresponding stud screw. On a side facing the cylinder head, each of the through-holes has an internal thread having a first direction of rotation. A plurality of threaded sleeves, each threaded sleeve has an internal thread that has a second direction of rotation, an external thread that has a first direction of rotation, and a driver profile for inserting a screwdriver tool in a positive-locking manner, are provided.
FASTENING COMPONENT SUPPLYING APPARATUS
A fastening component supplying apparatus is disclosed. The disclosed fastening component supplying apparatus according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention for supplying a plurality of bolts aligned by a bolt aligning device to a fastening portion of a fastening target part includes: a bolt picking unit rotatably installed to an arm front end of a handling robot and picking a plurality of bolts aligned in the bolt aligning device; and a bolt drop unit installed to an arm front end side of the handling robot and dropping the bolts picked by the bolt picking unit to the fastening portion.
Apparatus and method for positioning a connecting rod relative components underlying a cylinder of an engine block
An apparatus is provided for positioning a connecting rod relative to one or more components underlying a cylinder of an engine block, in tandem with assembling a cylinder liner to the cylinder of the engine block. The apparatus has a holder mechanism releasably holding a bottom end of the cylinder liner. A portion of the holder mechanism is configured to extend beyond the bottom end of the cylinder liner to define a groove that is disposed parallel to a circumference of the cylinder liner. A link pivotally connects the cylinder liner to the connecting rod. The link includes a first end defining a pin that is slidably engaged with the groove of the holder mechanism and a second end that defines an opening therethrough. The opening facilitates insertion of a fastener for releasably securing the link to a bottom end of the connecting rod.
Method for repairing in-situ installations inside a compressor rear frame case of a gas turbine
A method for repairing in-situ an oil manifold of the aft end bearing assembly of a gas turbine is provided that is cost-efficient, effective and dramatically reduces the costs for repair of a leaking oil manifold.
Fuel nozzle seal removal tool
A system comprises a holder including a mounting feature configured to mount to a flange of a fuel injector and a block including a mounting feature configured to mount to a side of the flange that is opposite from the holder. The system includes, punch configured to pass through at least one punch aperture in the block. The punch aperture is configured to guide a tip of the punch into position to deform a c-seal seated in a seal channel of the flange. A method for using the system using the system is also disclosed.
