One variation of a method for fabricating a dermal heatsink includes: fabricating a substrate defining an interior surface, an exterior surface opposite the interior surface, and an open network of pores extending between the interior surface and the exterior surface; activating surfaces of the substrate and walls of the open network of pores; applying a coating over the substrate to form a heatsink, the coating comprising a porous, hydrophilic material and defining a void network; removing an excess of the coating from the substrate to clear blockages within the open network of pores by the coating; hydrating the heatsink during a curing period; heating the heatsink during the curing period to increase porosity of the coating applied over surfaces of the substrate; and rinsing the heatsink with an acid to decarbonate the coating along walls of the open network of pores in the substrate.

Integrated pipe heat exchanger

A heat exchanger system may have a base, a mounting apparatus for attaching the base to a device, a gasket shelf for placing a gasket, a dissipation member for dissipating heat, and heat generator attachment sites for absorbing heat. A mounting apparatus may have finger-like extensions which flex and draw the base into contact with an underlying electronic device from which the system conducts heat. A base may also have an integrated heat pipe clamp attachment forming an aperture in the base into which a heat pipe may extend and may be clamped in thermal communication. The dissipation device may be a series of fins and troughs and a fan may direct air over the dissipation device to cool the apparatus.

Heat sink structure and manufacturing method thereof

A heat sink structure and a manufacturing method thereof. The heat sink includes a main body and multiple radiating fins each having a folded root section. The main body has multiple connection channels formed on a circumference of the main body. The multiple radiating fins are placed in a mold. A mechanical processing measure is used to high-speed impact the main body so as to thrust the main body into the mold. Accordingly, the folded root sections of the radiating fins are relatively high-speed thrust into the connection channels of the main body to tightly integrally connect with the main body.

Method of fabricating a heat sink

A method for fabricating a straight fin heat sink (50) of the type having a base (52) and a plurality of fins (54) extending from the base is disclosed. Each fm (54) of the plurality of fins of the heat sink is spaced from one another a predetermined distance and lies along a plane generally parallel to planes of the other fins of the plurality of fins. The method includes: providing a die (20) configured to produce a heat sink (30) having a base (32) and a plurality of fins (34) attached to be base in a radial fashion about the base from at least one side of the base; extruding a blank of material through the die (20) to produce the heat sink (30); and compressing the plurality of fins (34) with a compression tool (40) so that the plurality of fins (54) extend from the base along planes generally parallel to each other.

Pump-enhanced, immersion-cooling of electronic compnent(s)

Cooling apparatuses and methods of fabricating thereof are provided which facilitate pumped immersion-cooling of an electronic component(s). The cooling apparatus includes an enclosure having a compartment accommodating the electronic component(s), and dielectric fluid within the compartment at least partially immersing the electronic component(s). A liquid-cooled heat sink is associated with the enclosure to cool at least one cooling surface associated with the compartment, and facilitate heat transfer to the heat sink from the electronic component(s) via the dielectric fluid. A pump is disposed external to the compartment and in fluid communication therewith to facilitate pumped dielectric fluid flow through the compartment. The pumped dielectric fluid flow through the compartment enhances heat transfer from the electronic component(s) to the liquid-cooled heat sink via the cooling surface(s). In one implementation, the pumped dielectric fluid flow provides two-phase cooling to the electronic component(s) via flow boiling.
