METHOD FOR REPROFILING AT LEAST ONE RAIL
20230018816 · 2023-01-19 · ·

In a reprofiling method of a rail (2) of a laid rail track (1) during a travel movement of a machining vehicle (13) along a rail track (1) in a section of its running surface (10) located on the rail head (5), a machining unit (14) includes a first and a second machining aggregate (16, 20). In a first machining step, material is removed in a milling process. In this process, a surface corrugation with corrugation crests (18) and corrugation troughs (19) is formed. In the second machining step, the surface corrugation is reduced by plastic deformation of the corrugation crests (18) by at least one forming force (21) directed towards the running surface (10) to be machined and applied in a pulsating manner.

A processing method according to one aspect incudes preparing a metal workpiece having a hole that opens to a surface thereof, filling the hole with processing media, and applying an external force to the processing media to apply a compressive residual stress to an inner surface of the hole.

TOOL AND METHOD FOR MECHANICAL SURFACE TREATMENT

A tool for mechanical surface treatment includes a housing, a roller body, and a resonator. The housing has a cavity for filling with a hydraulic medium having a basic pressure. The roller body is for rolling on a workpiece surface to be treated and is exposed to the basic pressure of the hydraulic medium. The resonator is arranged for generating targeted pressure pulses in the hydraulic medium. In some example embodiments, the housing has a tubular body with a tip and the roller body is arranged at the tip. In an example embodiment, the roller body is a sphere. In an example embodiment, the tool includes a seal for sealing the roller body to the tubular body.

A PEENING DEVICE AND METHOD

A device and method are provided for peening a surface. The peening device comprises a rotatable member, a flexible line that extends from the rotatable member and a peening element that is provided on the flexible line. In use, the line and peening element are rotated about the rotatable member such that when the peening element comes into contact with the surface, the surface is peened as result of kinetic energy of the peening element.

Ultrasonic roller burnishing system and method, and method for machining component

An ultrasonic roller burnishing system comprises a roller and a controller. The roller is configured to be pressed against a surface of a workpiece to a pressing depth, roll on the surface at a feed rate, and vibrate at an ultrasonic frequency under a back pressure. The roller is pressed and rolled by a motion unit which is driven by a drive motor. The vibrating of the roller is driven by an ultrasonic vibration unit with an input current inputted thereinto. The controller is configured to adjust at least one of the pressing depth, the back pressure, the input current and the feed rate based on an expected residual compressive stress and a real time output power of the drive motor, to generate a residual compressive stress in the workpiece which is in an expected range predetermined based on the expected residual compressive stress.

Inner surface finishing tool

An inner surface finishing tool enables machining of a workpiece made of a material machinable with a relatively large burnishing amount while reducing deformation at the opening of the workpiece or deterioration of its geometrical tolerance during machining of the inner peripheral surface. The tool includes a mandrel rotatable relative to the workpiece and includes a polygonal member, and a frame that is cylindrical and fitted onto the mandrel in a rotatable manner and has an axis extending in an axial direction of the mandrel and holds a plurality of first rollers and a plurality of second rollers rollable on an outer peripheral surface of the mandrel. The polygonal member rotates the plurality of second rollers to move inward and outward in a radial direction of the frame.
