ABRASIVE ARTICLE
An abrasive article is disclosed. The abrasive article has a backing substrate. The abrasive article also has a laminate joined to the backing substrate. The laminate comprises a hot melt polymer. The abrasive article also has a cured resin composition joined to the laminate opposite the backing substrate. The abrasive article also has abrasive particles joined to the cured resin composition.
Polishing pad, manufacturing method of polishing pad and polishing method
A polishing pad is provided. The polishing pad comprises a polishing layer and a metal-containing layer. The polishing layer has a polishing surface and a backside surface opposite to each other, wherein the backside surface has a plurality of cavities. The metal-containing layer is disposed on the backside surface of the polishing layer and fills into the cavities, wherein a first contact area is between the metal-containing layer and the backside surface of the polishing layer, and the first contact area is larger than the orthogonal projection area of the polishing layer.
Foam Abrasive and Method for Producing Same
A foam abrasive for grinding a workpiece includes a main part made of foam, in particular polyurethane foam, and abrasive grains which are fixed to at least one surface of the foam abrasive via a base binder made of thermoplastic polyurethane. The abrasive grains are covered with a cover binder.
Abrasive Article and Method of Making such an Article
A method for manufacturing an abrasive article (10), including: providing a sheet including a support layer (12) and members (20) of a quick release system, QRS (18, 19) applying a metal coating (36) onto the support layer and the QRS members; applying abrasive particles (38) onto at least part of the first surface of the support layer, so that the particles are thermally connected to the metal coating;
The support layer defines a plurality of openings (26) that extend from a first surface (14) of the layer, through the layer, to an opposite surface (16) of the layer, and which allow abrasion dust to pass through. The QRS members are fixed on or in the support layer and protrude from this opposite surface, and are configured to fix the article to a surface including complementary QRS members (19). The metal coating covers both the support layer and the QRS members, and forms thermally conductive paths from the abrasive particles on the first surface, via the openings, to the QRS members on the opposite surface.
PRINTED ABRASIVE ARTICLE
A flexible abrasive article is provided with a first, non-tacky base layer having opposed first and second major surfaces. An ink layer is disposed on the first major surface of the first base layer, while a second, thermoplastic base layer is disposed on the ink layer whereby the ink layer is located between the first and second base layers. Disposed on the second base layer is an abrasive layer such that the second base layer is located between the abrasive layer and the ink layer. Compared with conventional printed flexible adhesive articles, the provided articles improved robustness while avoiding manufacturing difficulties related to flexographic printing onto abrasive coated articles.
SHAPED ABRASIVE PARTICLE TRANSFER ASSEMBLY
Various embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a shaped abrasive particle transfer assembly. The shaped abrasive particle transfer assembly includes a substrate including an adhesive and a plurality of shaped abrasive particles adhered to the substrate and forming a predetermined pattern thereon.
Coated abrasive article having rotationally aligned formed ceramic abrasive particles and method of making
A coated abrasive article having a plurality of formed ceramic abrasive particles each having a surface feature. The plurality of formed ceramic abrasive particles attached to a flexible backing by a make coat comprising a resinous adhesive forming an abrasive layer. The surface feature having a specified z-direction rotational orientation, and the specified z-direction rotational orientation occurs more frequently in the abrasive layer than would occur by a random z-direction rotational orientation of the surface feature.
Methods of Making Abrasive Articles and Bonded Abrasive Wheel Preparable Thereby
Methods of making abrasive articles involve adhering shaped abrasive particles to a reinforcing member according to a predetermined pattern and optionally orientation, and depositing a space-filling binder precursor on the reinforcing member and shaped abrasive particles to provide a filled abrasive preform, disposing another reinforcing member onto the filled abrasive preform, and curing the abrasive article precursor to form the abrasive articles. In some aspects, multiple abrasive preforms are stacked on each other. Bonded abrasive wheels preparable according to the methods are also disclosed.
TREATED BACKING AND COATED ABRASIVE ARTICLE INCLUDING THE SAME
A coated abrasive article (100) comprises: a backing (110) comprising polyester and having a major surface (115); a tie layer (120) directly bound to at least a portion of the major surface (115); and an abrasive layer (130) directly bound to at least a portion of the tie layer (120), the abrasive layer (130) comprising abrasive particles (160) and at least one binder resin (140). The tie layer (120) comprises an at least partially cured blend of, on a solids basis, from 50 to 99 parts by weight of at least one styrene-butadiene copolymer latex and from 1 to 50 parts by weight of at least one resorcinol-formaldehyde resin. A treated backing (110) comprising polyester having the preceding tie layer (120) directly bound thereto is also disclosed.
ABRASIVE ARTICLE INCLUDING A COATING
An abrasive article can include a substrate, abrasive particles coupled by a bond material to the substrate, and a coating overlying at least partially the exterior surface of the bond material. The coating can be a poly(p-xylylene) polymer applied via vapor deposition and may provide enhanced strength to the bond material and extended life time to the abrasive article.
