GRINDING TOOL FOR GRINDING BUTTONS ON A ROCK DRILL BIT
The present disclosure provides a grinding cup for detachable connection to the output drive shaft of a grinding machine for grinding buttons on drill bits or cutters. The grinding cup has top and bottom surfaces and consists of a lower grinding section and an upper body section co-axial with the grinding section to form a grinding cup with a centrally disposed recess formed in the bottom surface of the grinding section having the desired profile for the button to be ground. The improvement of the present invention is characterized by the upper body section having a centrally disposed upright drive section sized and shaped to fit within a co-axial recess in a free end of the output drive shaft. The upright drive section has a first support section extending from a top surface of the upper body section and a co-axial drive section on the upright drive section extending from a top surface of the first support section to a free end of the upper drive section. The co-axial drive section has a lower cam portion with an elliptical cross section, shaped and sized to fit within a corresponding pair of lobed grooves in a sidewall of the co-axial recess in the output drive shaft and an upper portion, co-axial with the lower cam portion having a circular cross-section slightly less than the diameter of an upper portion of the co-axial recess in the output drive shaft. Retaining means for detachably connecting the grinding cup to the output drive shaft of the grinding machine are provided on the upright drive section, preferably on or in association with the first support section.
IMPROVED CONTROL SYSTEM FOR GRINDING APPARATUS
The present disclosure provides a Grinding apparatus for grinding working tips of hard metal inserts of rock drill bits, comprising: a grinding machine, means for holding a rock drill bit to be ground and a support system, the support system, the grinding machine equipped with a spindle assembly having an output drive shaft having a longitudinal axis, one of a plurality of grinding tools of different sizes and profiles detachably connected to the output drive shaft for grinding different sizes and profiles of working tips; and having a control system having a programmable operator control panel capable of directly or indirectly monitoring and adjusting one or more operational parameters, a programmable control card provided having a circuit board containing a central processor, an RFID reader provided within operator control panel together with a touch screen display wherein when the free end of a grinding cup equipped with an RFID tag in accordance with present invention is inserted into the RFID reader a proximity sensor detects the RFID tag and scans the data on the tag wherein the data includes a specific ID identifier for the particular grinding cup and the number of grinding cycles over which it has been used to date.
COMPOSITIONS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF OBJECTS USING ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING
This invention relates to an object comprised of a plurality of fused filaments of a polyester material that includes units of a diacid component and units of a glycol component. The co-polyester has a zero shear viscosity no greater than about 3000, an elongation at break of at least about 75%, a density no greater than about 1.25 g/cm3, a glass transition temperature of at least about 80? C., an inherent viscosity from about 0.55 dL/g to about 0.7 dig, a density no greater than about 1.25 g/cm3, and a crystallization half-time no greater than about 300 minutes.
COMPOSITIONS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF OBJECTS USING ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING
Objects can be produced using an additive manufacturing process and the objects can be removed from the substrates on which the objects are formed. An object can include a plurality of layers of a polymeric material that includes units of a diacid component and units of a glycol component. A process can be used to form the object that includes depositing a plurality of layers of the polymeric material onto a substrate to form the object. In some cases, the plurality of layers are deposited onto the substrate according to a predetermined design.
