Spindle and tool holder refinisher
An apparatus and method for refinishing a tapered surface of a machine tool component. The apparatus includes a head defining at least three tapered segments which are configured to conform precisely to the taper of the machine tool component being refinished. Each segment includes a surface for receiving an abrasive strip, the surfaces configured to conform and confront a conical surface of a taper to be refinished. The head is adapted to engage the tapered surface of the machine tool component so that upon rotation of the head, the abrasive strips abrade the conical surface of the component. A head for refinishing a spindle bore includes three outwardly extending segments whereas the head for refinishing a tool holder shank surface includes three segments extending between annular portions, each segment having an inner tapered surface for receiving the abrasive strips.

Abrasive tool for machining surfaces
An abrasive tool for machining surfaces, which comprises a support associated with at least one abrasive layer, and a first layer and a second layer, both of which are made of elastically deformable material and are interposed between said support and said abrasive layer; the second layer has a higher stretch modulus than the first layer and is arranged in an intermediate position between the first layer and the abrasive layer, and the first layer is associated with the support.

Outer diameter cleaning and sanding drill attachment
An attachment for a drill comprises a shank with a chuck configured to mount the attachment to the drill. A housing on the shank comprises a threaded end and a hollow chamber. A compression bladder having a tubular opening through it is configured to be inserted into the hollow chamber. A tube comprising a sanding or cleaning surface located on the inner surface of the tube is configured to be insertable into the tubular opening of the compression bladder. A threaded lid having a circular opening that is at least the same diameter as the inner diameter of the tube is configured to mount onto the housing at the threaded end and compress the compression bladder thereby reducing the diameter of the tubular opening and compressing the compression bladder against the tube to secure the tube within the housing.
Portable modular deburring machine
An abrasive deburring machine comprised of a plurality of individually controlled abrasive modules, each having a rotatable drum type brush with flexible bristles, the drum is mounted on a rotatable support with axis of rotation generally perpendicular to the rotational axis of the drum. Each support with brush and support drive are mounted inside of a housing therefore creating a module. Plurality of such modules can be combined in a desired configuration to form a deburring machine or finishing/polishing machine tailored to a specific geometry of the work piece or part to be deburred, finished or polished. Each drum and drum support, including its axial angular position are controlled independently, which for a pre-programmed movement of all brushes in order to conform to a complex shape of the part to be deburred, optimize the process of deburring and maximize the durability of abrasive brushes. The drum type brush is preferably made of polystyrene foam with helical groove along its outer shape containing a continuous abrasive filament secured inside the groove and having bristle or strap like abrasive extremities. The invention includes a variety of modes of use being mostly applicable for deburring and finishing operations in Aerospace sector as well as in finishing operations in other metal, plastic and woodworking industries.

Rotary abrasive brush for deburring and method of manufacturing
A rotary tool containing a core hub with helical groove on its outer surface filled in with continuous abrasive filament formed by folding of a pre-cut abrasive sheet including multiple bristle like straps extending radially from the hub. The method of manufacturing includes the steps of providing a hub, and forming a helical groove with inverted V-shaped cross-section along its cylindrical surface. An abrasive element is wound around the hub so that the folded edge is fed in the V-grove and is buckled inside the groove providing, along with securing it by sufficient pre-tension of the abrasive element, a secure anchoring of the abrasive element through locking of the buckled edge. The abrasive filament is formed from a roll of abrasive cloth as one continuous piece using a cutting operation and is provided with center-line perforations. These perforations assist folding the filament by providing it with discrete and desired flexibility as well as weakening it in such way that it assists the process of folded edge buckling inside the groove during winding and therefore forms a tight anchoring junction with the hub without need for an adhesive.
