SELF-LOCKING PLIERS
20180009086 · 2018-01-11 ·

A pair of self-locking pliers includes three body structures pivotally connected. Each of the three body structure has a slot, and a shaft engages in the slots. The slots cooperate to surround a space and the shaft is constrained in the space. Two of the three body structures include two jaws and are pivotal relative to each other between a first position in which the two jaws are disposed adjacent to each other, and a second position in which the two jaws are disposed apart from each other. The first, second, and third slots are adapted to releasably restrain the shaft, thereby preventing the first, second, and third body structures from pivoting relative to each other.

EXTENSION SPRING ASSEMBLY AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME
20230013954 · 2023-01-19 ·

An extension spring assembly and a method for manufacturing the same. A helical extension spring is provided. The spring has a plurality of coils disposed along a longitudinal axis between an end coil at a first end and an end coil at a second end with the coils touching each other in absence of a force acting on the extension spring that is sufficient for extending the same. The end coils are gripped and the spring is extended to an extended position. In the extended position the spring has a predetermined distance between successive coils thereof In the extended position a coating material is disposed onto the surface of the spring such that the coating material is disposed onto a surface portion of the spring where the coils touch each other in absence of extension. The coating material is cured for a predetermined time interval while the spring is extended. The extension is removed from the spring after elapse of the predetermined time interval and the end coils are released. End mounts are then inserted into a first and a second end portion of the spring.

A second pliers knife (23) and a second pliers back (24) are disposed on the second clamp (22). The second clamp (22) is pivotally connected with the first clamp (12) to clamp or cut. The first pliers back (14) or the second pliers back (24) is provided with a chipping blade (50) configured in a concave arc shape for chipping.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR SELECTIVELY SECURING A CYLINDRICAL BODY
20230211472 · 2023-07-06 ·

At least some implementations of the present invention include the ability to access and secure a compressed riser portion of a pop-up sprinkler. Access is gained through use of the tip of the tool, sloped for access clearance between the sprinkler nozzle “lip” and outer sprinkler base. Once raised from the outer sprinkler casing, the riser is secured in a designated clamping bay or within designated clamping points. This two-pronged approach accommodates varying diameter of sprinkler risers and increases the multi-use function of the tool. The tool's overall inward tension is provided by an engineered compression spring designed with adequate outward tension without making hand compression use of the tool restrictive. Use of the tool in an inward sweeping motion toward the sprinkler allows for raising and clamping the riser in a quick and simple fashion. Thereafter, allowing free and open-hand access for quick and thorough maintenance, repair, exchange or adjustment of the sprinkler nozzle and filter.
