Drive blade lubrication assembly and powered fastener driver containing the same

A drive blade lubrication assembly for use in a powered fastener driver (10). The powered fastener driver (10) contains a drive blade (42) which snap-fits with a reciprocating piston (58) by a blade seal (103) assembly. The drive blade lubrication assembly contains a lubricant applying member adapted to apply lubricant to a portion of the drive blade (42); and a lubricant storing device which is in fluid communication with the lubricant applying member. The lubricating storing device is adapted to replenish the lubricant in the lubricant applying member. A powered fastener driver (10) containing a drive blade lubrication assembly is also described. The use of the lubricant storing device in the present invention ensures that lubricant is continuously supplied to the drive blade (42) after long time usage of the powered fastener driver (10), so that friction between the drive blade and the blade seal assembly is minimized.

An improved tool for installing an explosively driven fastener as well as an improved explosively driven fastener for use therewith are disclosed. The fastener includes a nail having a head with an explosive load attached thereto in a plastic cap that includes a buffer. The tool has a plurality of concentric cylinders and springs including a muzzle for receiving the fastener head and explosive load. A spring actuated firing pin ignites the load causing it to explode and drive the nail out of the tool. The explosion also automatically resets the tool. The tool and the fastener provide many advantages over existing explosively driven fasteners and the tools used to install them.

A powered nailer includes a power source including a driving element reciprocating within a cylinder between a prefiring position and a fastener driving position, the latter occurring when the driving element engages a bumper disposed at the bottom of the cylinder. A reciprocating valve element defines a combustion chamber in fluid communication with the cylinder, and is configured for receiving a dose of fuel and air prior to a user-generated ignition. A return chamber at least partially surrounds the cylinder and is in fluid communication with the cylinder, being configured for receiving a supply of pressurized air generated by the driving element as it moves from the prefiring position to the fastener driving position, the pressurized air acting on an underside of the driving element for returning it to the pre-firing position.

A spring tool for actuating explosive fasteners for driving nails into a substrate is disclosed. For the tool to operate at its maximum potential the firing pin guide should be pushed securely against the rear of the fastener and the tip of the fastener should be pushed securely against the substrate. The action of the operator pushing the tool forward to actuate the tool moves the trigger body forward while compressing the firing spring until the trigger body travels the exact distance needed to release the trigger ball. The trigger body must also be in optimal rotational orientation with the tool and means for accomplishing the alignment is disclosed.

A bracket for attachment to an overhead substrate to carry a suspending wire or rod is formed from metal plate or strap stock having a bend connecting a first generally rectangular section of the stock with a second generally rectangular section of the stock. The first generally rectangular section of stock has a dimple formed on one side of the stock with a corresponding bulge protruding from the other side. The bulge protrudes alongside the second generally rectangular section of stock. The bulge has a base and an apex, a generally conical outside surface adjacent to the first generally rectangular section of stock and a through aperture at the apex. The bracket is applied with a tool that can be provided with a washer system to accommodate different fastener lengths and a safety to deactivate the triggering mechanism.

A high-speed gunpowder actuated nail with a toothed tube includes: a nail member including an outer threaded portion; a tubular member including an inner threaded portion screwed to the outer threaded portion; an actuating portion mounted to the tubular member; and a percussion cap mounted to an end of the tubular member remote from the nail member. As such, it can be applied for effective screw connection of a threaded rod of small size, and the threaded rod and the nail member are arranged to be perpendicular to each other so that it has high structural strength, which improves the assembly strength to solve the difficulty and high cost of processing the inner thread of the tubular portion of the conventional one-piece high-speed nail, and solve the problem of insufficient screw connection strength due to the insufficient teeth of the conventional hanger.

Fastener System
20170129086 · 2017-05-11 ·

A fastener system comprising a tool and fastener is contemplated. The tool comprises an elongated member having a longitudinal bore that receives the fastener. The fastener is driven by the tool into a working surface whereby first and second vents capture a portion of the propellant gas to optimize penetration of the fastener and reduce the sound level. The fastener typically has a first diameter and a second diameter that meet at a step. A washer can receive the first diameter of the fastener. It is contemplated that the alignment of the fastener as it penetrates the work surface is maintained by at least one of (i) the head of the fastener and the longitudinal bore, (ii) washer, and (iii) a clip to reduce failures and spalling.
