INDUSTRIAL ROBOT
This industrial robot is provided with: an arm portion having a longitudinal axis; a wrist portion provided to a distal end of the arm portion and swingable about a swing axis orthogonal to the longitudinal axis; a wire body inserted through the inside of the arm portion and connected to an end effector mounted to the wrist portion; and an energizing unit for energizing the wire body in a separate direction away from the wrist portion along the longitudinal axis of the arm portion. Thus, in an industrial robot in which a wire body is inserted through the inside of an arm portion, a conventional deficiency generated corresponding to a swing motion of a wrist portion can be eliminated.

The instrument assembly includes an instrument and instrument driven portion. The elongated body includes an instrument central axis. The instrument driven portion includes a first central axis. The instrument driven portion is secured to a proximal end of the instrument in such a way that, when the instrument driven portion is driven to rotate, the instrument rotates relative to the first central axis. The end-effector assembly includes an instrument drive assembly. The instrument drive assembly includes an instrument drive portion. The instrument drive portion includes a second central axis. The instrument drive portion is configured to drive the instrument driven portion to rotate the distal end of the instrument relative to the first central axis. The second central axis intersects with and orthogonal to the first central axis.
BDELLOVIBRIO TREATMENT FOR AMYOTROPHIC LATERAL SCLEROSIS
Compositions and methods for treating or preventing the progression of neurodegenerative diseases are provided herein. Exemplary compositions include bacterial compositions having an effective amount of viable, non-pathogenic microbes, viable, non-pathogenic bacteria, wherein at least one of the bacteria is a predatory bacteria such as Bdellovibrio bacteriovorus. The disclosed bacterial compositions can be used to treat or prevent the progression of neurodegenerative diseases such as ALS, Alzheimer's disease, Huntington's disease, and Parkinson's disease.
Mechanical wrist joints with enhanced range of motion, and related devices and methods
A wrist joint, such as for a surgical instrument, may include a first disc, a second disc adjacent the first disc, a drive tendon connecting the first disc and the second disc. The first disc and the second disc may include respective opposing gear features that intermesh with one another. The first disc and the second disc may further include opposing load bearing surfaces. In response to tensioning the drive tendon, the first and second discs rotate relative to each other. The first and second discs may have a maximum rotational range of motion greater than about +/−45 degrees relative to each other.
MULTI-ANGLE END EFFECTOR
Embodiments of the present disclosure are directed towards robotic systems and methods. The robot may include an end effector, a tool flange of the robot, and a joint. The end effector may include a contacting part configured to contact a workpiece. The joint may be positioned between, and connected to, the tool flange and the end effector. The joint may include a variable angle between the tool flange and the end effector.
ACTUATOR
An actuator includes a casing, an output disc, a transmission component, a cable, a power source, and a tension adjustment assembly. The output disc and the transmission component are rotatably disposed on the casing. The cable is disposed through the transmission component and connected to the output disc. The power source can drive the transmission component. The tension adjustment assembly includes a lever, an elastic component, and a slidable component. The lever has a first end and a second end opposite to each other. The first end is connected to the cable. The elastic component is connected to the casing and the second end of the lever. The slidable component is in contact with a portion of the lever located between the first end and the second end, and is slidable along the lever to change its position to adjust a tension of the cable.
Articulated mechanism with compact torque sensor
A motorized joint unit comprises a pair of shells defining an inner cavity, the pair of shells adapted to be connected to adjacent links of an articulated mechanism. A rotor and stator in the inner cavity are actuatable to cause a relative rotation therebetween. A shaft connected to the rotor to rotate with the rotor relative to the stator. A support coupled to the shaft by a mechanism, the support being connected to one of the shells to impart a rotation of the shaft to the shell, the support defining an annular wall. One or more strain gauges are located on said annular wall of the support. A printed circuit board (PCB) is applied against the annular wall and electrically connected to the at least one strain gauge, the PCB adapted to be electrically linked to a controller.
System and Method for Restoring Upper Robotic Assemblies Supported About a Base Platform to One Or More Self-Supporting Stable Support Positions
A robotic system comprising an upper robotic assembly and a base platform rotatable relative to one another in at least one degree of freedom via one or more joints. The robotic system further comprises a joint position restoration assembly coupled to at least one of the upper robotic assembly or the base platform, and having a first spring coupled between the upper robotic assembly and the base platform, the joint position restoration assembly being operable to apply a restoring torque to the first joint, wherein the joint position restoration assembly is configured to provide a restoring torque versus joint position profile relative to the first joint that corresponds to mass properties of at least a portion of the robotic assembly associated with the first joint, such that the joint position restoration assembly operates to apply the restoring torque to position and to support the first joint in a stable support position.
