A protective device and a method of transmitting an alert from the device, in which the protective device is handheld and includes a flexible sheath disposed between an upper member and a lower member. When the device is compressed, elongated defensive components protrude through openings in the upper member. In some cases, the upper member also includes protruding portions extending upward from the upper member and/or an arm portion extending outward to a side of the device. A signal alert may be automatically transmitted upon device compression.

A landscaping dripper system tool that safely enables releasing drip irrigation feeder pipe from the barbs of connected fittings and end-point devices; emitters, sprayers, manifolds, etc. The tool includes a channel and a parallel, recessed knife blade that receives and cuts the irrigation tubing wall, releasing the feeder pipe from the connected barbed fitting. The knife blade tip extends into the channel to a depth based on a standard irrigation tubing wall thickness, so when the operator slides the tubing with attached barb along the channel, the tubing wall is safely cut.

A landscaping dripper system tool that safely enables releasing drip irrigation feeder pipe from the barbs of connected fittings and end-point devices; emitters, sprayers, manifolds, etc. The tool includes a channel and a parallel, recessed knife blade that receives and cuts the irrigation tubing wall, releasing the feeder pipe from the connected barbed fitting. The knife blade tip extends into the channel to a depth based on a standard irrigation tubing wall thickness, so when the operator slides the tubing with attached barb along the channel, the tubing wall is safely cut.

A safety knife is provided that includes a handle, defining a cavity with an opening on a first end, and including a print scanner and an activation trigger; a slider assembly including a half-nut and a blade; a motor configured to rotate a lead screw engaged with the half-nut when the print scanner matches a received biometric marker to a stored biometric marker and when the activation trigger is engaged to push the slider assembly in a first direction to expose the blade; and a return spring connected to the slider assembly and to a second end of the handle, wherein pushing the slider assembly in the first direction places the return spring under tension and the return spring pulls the slider assembly in a second direction to retract the blade into the cavity when the half-nut disengages the lead screw.

A safety knife is provided that includes a handle, defining a cavity with an opening on a first end, and including a print scanner and an activation trigger; a slider assembly including a half-nut and a blade; a motor configured to rotate a lead screw engaged with the half-nut when the print scanner matches a received biometric marker to a stored biometric marker and when the activation trigger is engaged to push the slider assembly in a first direction to expose the blade; and a return spring connected to the slider assembly and to a second end of the handle, wherein pushing the slider assembly in the first direction places the return spring under tension and the return spring pulls the slider assembly in a second direction to retract the blade into the cavity when the half-nut disengages the lead screw.

An utility knife includes a housing, a blade seat, a blade, and a switching assembly. The housing has a chamber, an opening formed at an end of the chamber, and a switch slot communicating with the chamber. The blade seat is arranged in the chamber and has a blade holding slot and a guiding slot communicating with the blade holding slot. The blade is detachably mounted to the blade holding slot and has at least one engaging slot. The switching assembly includes a toggle switch movably arranged to the switch slot and exposed to the housing, an engaging block disposed at an end of the toggle switch and movably arranged to the guiding slot, and a biasing member elastically biasing the engaging block relative to the guiding slot.
