Severing a Cable Tie with a Rounded Cut
This document describes techniques, apparatuses, and systems for severing a cable tie with a rounded cut. Using a cable tie severing tool, a cable tie may be looped around an object and a tail portion received through a nosepiece assembly. A head of the cable tie may be aligned using an alignment indicator to ensure a rounded cut of the serrated portion of the cable tie at a finite distance from the head portion of the cable tie. A blade member may be displaced to sever the serrated portion of the cable tie and produce a rounded cut free of sharp edges. In this manner, the likelihood of abrasive damage from contacting the rounded cut may be reduced.

Manually operated cutting device having a ratchet mechanism
A cutting device for the chipless cutting of a material comprises a cutting part and a supporting part. The cutting part and the supporting part are designed to be rotated with respect to one another about an axis of rotation between an open position and a closed position. A hand lever is articulated to the supporting part for pivoting about a pivot axis. A ratchet mechanism converts a back-and-forth motion of the hand lever into a continuous rotational motion of the cutting part toward the closed position. The ratchet mechanism includes a toothing and a drive pawl, which can be brought into an effective position with respect to the toothing. Furthermore, the cutting device comprises a coupling mechanism, which converts a one-time pivoting motion of the hand lever into a rotational motion of the cutting part. A separate coupling element transmits force from the hand lever to the cutting part.

Hand-held shearing device
A hand-held device includes a first member and a second member coupled together by a pivot point such that each member may rotate independently. The hand-held device further comprises a handle on one side of each member and a protrusion on an opposite side of each member. Further, the hand-held device may include counter-torque extensions which extend from each member such that the counter-torque extensions touch when the device is engaged.

Hair cutting scissors
A pair of scissors has two shears movably mounted to pivot about an axis, each of the shears having a blade (3) extended by a shank (4, 5). The first shank (4) is covered by a grip in the form of an elongate body that is provided with a lateral opening (8) and that is suitable for being inserted transversely between two fingers of a hand to a position where it bears against the crook where the two fingers meet. The second shank (5) is terminated by a half-ring forming a cradle (10) for receiving the thumb. The first shank (4) is a bent shank. The lateral opening (8) in the elastically deformable grip extends into the inside of the grip forming a sheath into which the first shank (4) can be inserted in adjustable manner by slidable movement. The end of the cradle (10) that is closer to the first shank (4) is bent towards the inside of the cradle to form an abutment (11) for retaining the thumb.

Severing a cable tie with a rounded cut
A cable tie cutting apparatus comprises a housing and a nosepiece assembly coupled to the housing. The nosepiece assembly comprises an upper portion, and a side portion and a front portion orthogonal to and extending from the upper portion. The front portion comprises a receiving element configured to receive a tail portion of a cable tie through a slotted opening and a vertical rail protruding from the front portion. The tool further comprises the blade member having a curved cutting edge and a rear planar surface that defines a channel that mates with the vertical rail of the nosepiece assembly.
