Apparatus for testing razor blades and method for same

An apparatus for testing a razor blade comprises a base, a material support table, a material sample, a transport carriage, a blade retention assembly, and a razor blade. The material support table is supported by the base. The transport carriage is movably coupled with the base and is movable with respect to the material support table between a start position and an end position. The blade retention assembly is movably coupled with the transport carriage and is movable with respect to the material support table between a blade-engaged position and a blade disengaged position. The blade retention assembly is movable together with the transport carriage between the start position and the end position. The blade is releasably attached to the blade retention assembly. The razor blade contacts the material sample when the blade retention assembly is in the blade-engaged position. Methods are also provided.

Smart shaving system with a 3D camera

A smart shaving system with a three-dimension (3D) camera assists the user of a shaving razor. The 3D camera is communicatively connected to the shaving razor and to a razor cartridge vendor platform via an Internet-of-Things (IoT) gateway. The 3D camera can be incorporated into the shaving razor. The razor has hardware/software capabilities to function as a stand-alone Internet-of-Things (IoT) device. The 3D camera can assist the user to determine whether a particular skin surface area has been adequately shaved, and/or (ii) assist the user regarding the type of shaving cartridge and/or razor suited for the particular user's physical characteristics (e.g., skin and/or hair).

Pivoting razors

Replaceable shaving assemblies are disclosed that include a blade unit, an interface element configured to removably connect the blade unit to a handle, on which the blade unit is pivotably mounted, and an elastomeric element disposed between the blade unit and interface element. Shaving systems including such shaving assemblies are also disclosed, as are methods of using such shaving systems.

Cutting apparatus for hair or fiber and a cutting device using same

A cutting apparatus for hair or fiber protruding from a surface includes a roller, a number of cutting features disposed at an outer peripheral surface of the roller, wherein the number of cutting features is adapted for cutting the hair or fiber when the roller rotates in contact with the filamentous surface or is moved while in contact with the filamentous surface.

APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR OPERATING A PERSONAL GROOMING APPLIANCE OR HOUSEHOLD CLEANING APPLIANCE

A system and method for treating a surface of a user’s body part, including: obtaining target surface condition information from a user’s body part surface using one or more condition sensors taken from a group consisting of: an optical sensor and a bio-sensor; classifying the target surface condition information using a machine learning classifier to determine an initial target surface condition classification; obtaining treatment progress information using a combination of motion sensor data and surface condition information from the one or more condition sensors; and classifying the treatment progress information using a machine learning classifier to determine a progress classification for treating the initial target surface condition classification.

Sensor-based shaving systems and methods of analyzing a user's shave event for determining a unique threshold value of the user

Sensor-based shaving systems and methods of analyzing a user's shave event are described for determining a unique threshold value of the user. A grooming device comprises a handle having a connecting structure connected to a hair cutting implement. A shave event sensor associated with the grooming device measures a user behavior, which includes collecting a first dataset comprising shave data defining a shave event. The first dataset is transmitted via a communication device and is analyzed to determine baseline behavior data of the user, and a unique threshold value of the user is determined from the baseline behavior data. One or more subsequent datasets, each comprising shave data of one or more corresponding shave events, is compared to the unique threshold value to determine comparison data. An indication is provided, based on the comparison data, to indicate a deviation from the threshold value and to influence the user behavior.

Apparatus and method for operating a personal grooming appliance or household cleaning appliance

A system and method for operating a household cleaning appliance, including: providing a household cleaning appliance including, a powered and electronically controlled cleaning implement, and at least one physical sensor taken from a group consisting of: an orientation sensor, an acceleration sensor, an inertial sensor, a global positioning sensor, a pressure sensor, a load sensor, audio sensor, humidity sensor, and a temperature sensor; providing a camera associated with the household cleaning appliance; deriving an augmented classification using one or more classifiers classifying the physical sensor data and the image data; and modifying operation of the cleaning implement based upon the augmented classification.

A two-sided back shaver handle has an elongated member. A blade attachment located on the inner side is at a blade end of the elongated member opposite a grip end. A sponge is wrapped around the elongated member on the outer side of the elongated member opposite a grip end. The sponge has a strap wrapped around the elongated member. An elongated sponge can be located in a direction along a length of the elongated member on an outer side, wherein the elongated sponge extends longer in a length between the grip and the blade end than a width between the left side and the right side. The elongated member can be s-shaped with a convex surface contour on the outer side between the grip and the blade end.
