The modular cutter assembly for cutting composite material and for use in a composite placement machine wherein the cutter assembly includes a base and a cutting member. The cutting member being removably attachable to the base by a mechanical connection.

A method for perforating a web with a perforating apparatus includes: rotating a cylinder about a longitudinal cylinder axis, wherein the cylinder comprises at least one shaped blade; operatively engaging a movable support with the cylinder; positioning an anvil disposed on the support so as to cooperate in contacting relationship with the shaped blade, wherein at least one of the blade and the anvil comprise a plurality of teeth, and wherein adjacent teeth are separated by a recessed portion; feeding a web between the cylinder and the support; and perforating the web as the anvil cooperates in contacting relationship with the shaped blade disposed on the rotating cylinder.

A battery module having a fire-extinguisher, and more particularly to a battery module having a fire-extinguisher, the battery module including a plurality of battery cells stacked in a vertical direction or a horizontal direction and a fire-extinguisher located adjacent to each of the battery cells, wherein the fire-extinguisher includes a fire-extinguishing pack containing a fire-extinguishing material, a piezoelectric element interposed between the battery cell and the fire-extinguishing pack, and at least one breaking unit interposed between the battery cell and the fire-extinguishing pack.

Laser shock peening is applied to a harvester component for an agricultural wear application that for example may be any of the following components: a knifeback, a knifehead, a knifeback connecting strap, a straw chopper, a sickle section, stalk chopper, a bedknife, a sod cutter knife, a net wrap knife or a combine concave component. The laser shock peening may be selectively applied. For example, laser shock peening can be applied in regions of drive ends of harvester components, and/or in regions proximate fastener holes of such harvester components.

A guide rail is pivotally connected to the table surface by at least one releasable guide rail connector. The guide rail is releasably locked with respect to the blade at a plurality of angles.

A battery pack has a fire-extinguishing unit including a fire-extinguishing material, and more particularly to a battery module having a fire-extinguishing unit including a fire-extinguishing material, the battery module including a plurality of battery cells stacked in a vertical direction or a horizontal direction and a fire-extinguishing unit located adjacent to each of the battery cells, wherein the fire-extinguishing unit includes a fire-extinguishing pack containing a fire-extinguishing material and at least one breaking unit interposed between the battery cell and the fire-extinguishing pack.

Embodiments of the invention provide a cutting tool. The cutting tool includes a pin that defines an axis, a first jaw, a second jaw, a first blade, and a second blade. The first and second jaws are configured to rotate about the axis. The first jaw includes a first ear surface that has a first ear bore that is dimensioned to receive the pin. The second jaw includes a second ear surface rotationally engaged with the first ear surface and includes a second ear bore that is dimensioned to receive the pin. The blades can include a tapered face and a non-tapered face. The first and second ear surfaces can be coplanar with the respective non-tapered face.

A cutting apparatus for hair or fiber protruding from a surface includes a roller, a number of cutting features disposed at an outer peripheral surface of the roller, wherein the number of cutting features is adapted for cutting the hair or fiber when the roller rotates in contact with the filamentous surface or is moved while in contact with the filamentous surface.
