The first edge layer depth at the first end of the hardened region is at most 3 mm.

Guide bar for a motor chainsaw and method for producing a guide bar

A guide bar for motor chainsaws has side plates and a middle section between the side plates connected fixedly and non-movably to the side plates. The side plates form a clamping section and a deflection section opposite the clamping section. A guide groove extends circumferentially about the guide bar. The middle section forms the guide groove bottom in the deflection section. A guide bar tip is located where the longitudinal center axis of the guide bar intersects the deflection section. The side plates each have a guide surface extending continuously across a first longitudinal side of the guide bar, the deflection section, and a second longitudinal side of the guide bar. The guide surfaces of the side plates have hardened regions at the first and second longitudinal sides and at the guide bar tip with a hardness greater than a hardness of a middle region of the side plates.

Arranging (140) a side plate (23a, 23b) on each side of the core plate (25), thereby forming a sandwiched structure and joining (160) of the plates (23a, 23b, 25) for formation of an elongated guide bar (5), wherein the at least one detachable element (31) remains attached to the core plate (25). The disclosure also relates to a guide bar (5) for a chainsaw (1). The guide bar (5) comprises a laminated structure of at least three layers comprising a first side plate (23a), a second side plate (23b), and a core plate (25) disposed between said first side plate (23a) and said second side plate (23b), wherein the core plate (25) is provided with at least one detachable element (31). The disclosure also relates to an alternative method (200) of production of a chainsaw guide bar (5).

TARGETED OIL DELIVERY FOR CHAIN SAW BARS

Embodiments include a bar for a chain saw that is equipped with one or more oil channels that run along the length of the bar. Each oil channel receives oil at a first end, which exits the oil channel at an oil exit aperture at a second end of the channel. The oil exit aperture of one of the channels is positioned along the side of a bar groove, through which runs the saw chain, proximate to the cutting area of the bar to lubricate the saw chain just prior to the cutting area. A second channel may have an oil exit aperture proximate to the nose of the bar, to lubricate a sprocket wheel in the nose of the bar.

Lightweight chainsaw guide bar

A chainsaw (100) includes a power unit and a working assembly powered responsive to operation of the power unit. The working assembly includes a guide bar (120) around which a chain is rotatable. The guide bar (120) includes a first side plate (200) and a second side plate (210) facing each other and extending away from the housing (110) to a nose of the guide bar (120), the first and second side plates (200 and 210) each including an inner sidewall (224 and 222) facing inwardly toward each other. Each of the inner sidewalls (224 and 222) includes a recessed portion (230) at which material of the inner sidewalls (224 and 222) has been removed.

MAGNETIC CHAINSAW CHAIN RETENTION MECHANISM

The present invention generally relates to improvements in chainsaws. In particular, the present invention relates to mechanisms for preventing the chain of a chainsaw from falling off the guide bar of the chain saw. According to one embodiment, a magnetic chainsaw chain retention mechanism comprising a magnetic guide bar is provided. The mechanism maintains the chain of a chainsaw on the chainsaw guide bar during use of the chainsaw. As heat expands the overall length of the chain while the chainsaw is running, a magnetic force attracts the chain to the guide bar thus preventing it from falling off. In another embodiment, a magnetic chain is provided, such that the chain remains attracted to the guide bar, wherein, a magnetic force attracts the chain to the guide bar if and when it expands thus preventing it from falling off the guide bar.
