CHAIN SAWS, COMPONENTS FOR CHAIN SAWS, AND SYSTEMS FOR OPERATING SAWS
Improved chain saws, components for chain saws, methods of making chain saws and components, and methods of using chain saws and components are disclosed. In some embodiments, a chain saw comprises a saw bar and a plurality of links, wherein a first link has a hook that engages a recess of a second link, thereby coupling the first link and the second link and allowing them to articulate without decoupling. The saw bar may have a rail, and the links may have grooves such that the links straddle and ride over the rail. The rail may have a projection and the grooves of the links may have notches accommodating the projection such that the projection prevents dislocation of the links. The links may have conical or pyramidal cutting teeth. The chain may be bidirectional. Robotic and automated operation of saws and other instruments are also disclosed.
CUTTING LINK, A SAW CHAIN AND A CHAINSAW APPARATUS HAVING THE SAME, AND A METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME
A cutting link, a saw chain and a chainsaw apparatus having the same, and a method for manufacturing the same. The cutting link includes: a body; a depth gauge protruding upwardly from a top side of the body; and a cutting portion protruding upwardly from the top side of the body and located at rearward side of the depth gauge, wherein the cutting portion includes a cutting edge, a rake face adjacent to the cutting edge, and a clearance face adjacent to the cutting edge, and wherein the cutting portion has one or more hardened areas including a first surface hardened area which covers at least the rake face, with other areas of the cutting link being non-surface hardened areas. The chain is a single use chain with predictable long life and economical use, and capable of minimizing the risk of chain shot.

SAW CHAIN LINK WITH ONE OR MORE OVERSIZED RIVET HOLES
Embodiments herein provide apparatuses, systems, and methods associated with a saw chain link having one or more oversized rivet holes. A rivet may be disposed in the oversized rivet hole and provide a clearance between the rivet and the edge of the oversized rivet hole that is about 0.010 inches or more. The clearance may permit the saw chain to move between two or more stable positions. The saw chain link may be a drive link, such as a cutter drive link or a bumper drive link. In some embodiments, the saw chain link may be a bi-directional saw chain link. Other embodiments may be described and claimed.

Cutting Apparatus with Multi-Directional Cutting Element
The present invention relates to a novel cutting apparatus capable of effectively cutting a material via movement in at least two different directions. In certain embodiments, the cutting apparatus comprises cutting elements with at least two cutting surfaces. Such cutting elements are capable of effectively penetrating a material when moved with an applied force in the direction that at least one cutting surface is oriented. Such cutting elements may be configured for use with a variety of cutting apparatus, including but not limited to chainsaws, circular saws, band saws, jigsaws or tigersaws.
REVERSIBLE SAW CHAIN
A reversible saw chain for a power chainsaw with a guide bar or blade may be a continuous loop of interconnected links with a plurality of spaced-apart cutting links and a plurality of connecting links. Each cutting link may include a first cutting surface facing a first direction and a second cutting surface facing a second direction that is opposite to the first direction, and a top plate extending between the first and second cutting surfaces and being not planar between these cutting surfaces. The top plate may have a first portion inclined inwardly away from the first cutting surface and a second portion inclined inwardly away from the second cutting surface and the first and second portions may be in a v-shaped configuration.
CHAINSAW CHAINS
A chainsaw chain includes a plurality of drive links, a plurality of cutters, and a plurality of rivets. Each drive link includes a drive link body, a pair of rivet holes extending through the drive link body, and a tang extending from the drive link body and configured to engage a drive element of a chainsaw. Each cutter includes a cutter body having a pair of rivet holes extending therethrough, a cutting tooth coupled to an upper portion of the cutter body, a feed limiter, and a gullet. The cutter body defines a longitudinal axis extending through the pair of rivet holes and a vertical axis oriented perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. The cutting tooth is set relative to the vertical axis. The plurality of rivets couples the plurality of drive links and the plurality of cutters together.
Power-tool parting device
A machine tool separating device has at least one cutting line. The cutting line has a changing cutting edge angle geometry along one cutting direction of the cutting line.
HIGH EFFICIENCY SAW CHAIN
A high efficiency saw chain for a saw including a cutting link and a drive link, the cutting link and a drive link selected to provide a high efficiency saw chain for a specified power range.
