In a method for treating wood, a wood treatment device for a long-term treatment of wood is provided. An active agent for wood treatment is applied to a carrier material and the carrier material provided with the active agent for wood treatment is introduced into the receiving space of a hollow cylindrical body of the wood treatment device. The wood treatment device is driven into the wood. A thrust pin of the wood treatment device is displaced to release a first outlet opening at an open end face of the hollow cylindrical body and a second outlet opening in a wall surface of the hollow cylindrical body of the wood treatment device to bring into contact the receiving space with the wood and to release the active agent for wood treatment into the wood. The wood treatment device is left behind in the wood.

In a method for treating wood, a wood treatment device for a long-term treatment of wood is provided. An active agent for wood treatment is applied to a carrier material and the carrier material provided with the active agent for wood treatment is introduced into the receiving space of a hollow cylindrical body of the wood treatment device. The wood treatment device is driven into the wood. A wood treatment device may include a container and a closure assembly. The container may include an elongate body with an open end and having an internal expanse for holding a wood-treatment agent in fluid communication with the open end. The closure assembly may be configured, when positioned at the container open end, to close at least partially the open end. The closure assembly may include a release unit having an inner face exposed to the internal expanse and an outer face facing away from the internal expanse. The release unit may be configured to impede passage of the wood-treatment agent through the release unit. In some examples, an adapter may extending distally of the container and have an exposed surface facing the container and defining an opening configured to allow a foot of a manipulation tool to be moved through the opening and pivoted laterally to engage the adapter.

A wood treatment device may include a container and a closure assembly. The present invention relates to a wood treatment device (1) for treating wood, and to a method for treating wood. Said wood treatment device (1) comprises a cylindrical hollow body (2) having inner end which is inside the wood when in use, and an outer end facing away from the inner end and at least one outlet opening (4). The cylindrical hollow body (2) comprises a receiving space (20′) which is designed to receive a carrier material (20) containing a wood treatment agent. Said wood treatment device (1) also comprises a thrust pin (10) which extends along the longitudinal axis of the cylindrical hollow body (2), and which can be moved outside of the cylindrical hollow body (2) on the outer end. Said thrust pin (10) comprises at least one closure section (11, 12) which closes at least one outlet opening when the wood treatment device (1) is not in use, and when the wood treatment device (1) is in use, the at least one outlet opening is released after moving and the receiving chamber is brought into contact with the wood.

The present invention relates to a wood treatment device (1) for treating wood, and to a method for treating wood. A wood treatment apparatus for long-term treatment of wood has a cylindrical hollow body and a sleeve. The cylindrical hollow body has an inner end, during use located within the wood, an outer end, directed away from the inner end, an exit opening and an accommodating space accommodating a carrier material containing active wood-treatment substance. The sleeve is arranged around the cylindrical hollow body and, when the apparatus is not in use, closes the exit opening and, when the apparatus is used, frees the exit opening and brings the accommodating space into contact with the wood. The method provides driving the apparatus into the wood to position the exit opening near a site to be treated and displacing the sleeve to bring the accommodating space into contact with the wood, wherein the apparatus remains in the wood to allow the wood-treatment substance to be released pressureless into the wood.

A wood-treatment device may provide controlled release of a wood treatment agent, such as a fumigant, when placed into standard bored treatment holes in wood structural members. Fumigant release may be controlled by releasing the fumigant through a controlled-release component that may be in a neck of the container or in a passageway of a cap assembly. The cap assembly may include an extension that dislodges the controlled-release component when placed on an open end of the container or has a needle that punctures a seal covering a container opening. The container may have ends configured to be engaged by an adapter used to manipulate the container in a bored hole. The adapter may clip onto a neck of the container, have flanges to seal a bored hole when inserted therein, and have a distal end with an opening configured for engagement and manipulation by an external tool.

The present invention provides a wood-treatment apparatus (1) for the long-term treatment of wood, and also a method for treating wood using the apparatus (1). The wood-treatment apparatus (1) is formed from a cylindrical hollow body (2) and a sleeve (10). The cylindrical hollow body (2) here has an inner end, which during use ends up located within the wood, an outer end, which is directed away from the inner end, at least one exit opening (4) and an accommodating space (20), which is designed for accommodating a carrier material (20) containing active wood-treatment substance. The sleeve (10) is arranged in abutment around the cylindrical hollow body (2). The sleeve (10), when the wood-treatment apparatus (1) is not in use, closes the at least one exit opening (4) and, when the wood-treatment apparatus (1) is being used, frees the at least one exit opening (4) and brings the accommodating space (20) into contact with the wood.

A method for treating a ground-line area of wooden posts in use, that consists of burying a tank of treatment product in the ground next to the post, with a mechanism that automatically injects a certain quantity of said treatment product into the post, once per year. The driving agent allowing said injection can be a pressure generated within the device itself by various means, or electric current originating from a photovoltaic panel or a battery. The technique is non-invasive for the post, and offers the opportunity to choose a tank of required size, and the quantity of treatment product to be automatically injected into the post once per year. The technique is of particular interest for posts installed in built-up areas, because most existing techniques require the pavement to be broken so that the base of the post be exposed to be treated, and then rebuilt after treatment.
