SELF-CURLING FILM, METHOD FOR MAKING THE SAME, AND METHOD FOR ACTIVATING THE SAME
A self-curling film includes a nanofiber base film and a nanofiber external film connected to the nanofiber base film. The nanofiber base film comprises a plurality of polymer nanofibers aligned according to a first single-direction aligning pattern. The nanofiber external film comprises a plurality of polymer nanofibers aligned according to a second aligning pattern that is the same as or different from the first aligning pattern. The polymer nanofibers of the nanofiber deformable film includes a temperature or UV-sensitive material that causes the nanofiber deformable film to shrink or expand when heated or exposed to ultraviolet radiation.
Manufacturing method of reinforcing structure
A manufacturing method of a reinforcing structure includes: preparing a stringer having a fiber exposure surface; arranging an insulation protection material to cover at least a part of the fiber exposure surface; arranging the stringer on a skin having an uncured resin component; and curing the skin after the arranging the stringer. The insulation protection material includes a composite material having a resin component and an insulative fiber component. The curing the skin includes curing the skin and the insulation protection material at the same time. In the manufacturing method of a reinforcing structure, an edge glow discharge can be prevented without increasing a manufacturing process.
COMPOSITE TOOL MOISTURE/WRINKLE BARRIER
A method for fabricating a carbon fiber composite part, for example, a sun shield structural assembly on a satellite. The composite part is fabricated on a carbon fiber/bismaleimide (BMI) composite tool, where a moisture barrier is positioned on the tool prior to carbon fiber part ply layers being positioned on the tool to prevent moisture from the tool from entering the part. In one embodiment, the moisture barrier includes cross-wise strips of aluminum foil. A wrinkle barrier is positioned on the moisture barrier before the carbon fiber part ply layers so that anomalies or wrinkles in the moisture barrier are not transferred to the part layers.
