Method for making improved composite materials
A strip of curable prepreg comprising unidirectional fibers aligned with the length of the strip, the fibers being at least partially impregnated with curable thermosetting resin and comprising a flexible polymeric sheet on an outer face of the strip, wherein the strip has a substantially rectangular cross-section defining a width and a thickness of the strip.
System for joining resin and metal
A joining method for joining a resin member and a metal member by heating is provided. Joining of the resin member and metal member is performed by heating a joining interface of the resin member and metal member to a temperature in a range of equal to or higher than a decomposition temperature of the resin member and lower than a temperature at which gas bubbles are generated in the resin member and by cooling a surface of the resin member on the opposite side from a joining surface thereof with the metal member to a temperature that is lower than the melting point of the resin member.
NOTCHED PRE-PREG AND NOTCHED PRE-PREG SHEET
An intermediate base material has high handleability and shape conformity to complicated shapes and serves to perform high-yield production, even by low pressure molding, of fiber reinforced plastic material that do not suffer from significant generation of molding defects, such as creases and voids, that can cause a decrease in strength and that has good mechanical characteristics, decreased variations therein, and high dimensional stability. The prepreg includes a layer containing reinforcement fibers impregnated with a resin composition and the impregnation rate with the resin composition in the prepreg is in a predetermined range. It is characterized by being an incised prepreg having a plurality of incisions, being at least partly formed of reinforcement fibers with a predetermined fiber length, and having a reinforcement fiber content by volume Vf in a predetermined range.
Longitudinal bead molding
An edge-beaded fastener product such as a cushion cover tie-down has a molded profile bead secured to and extending along a flexible strip adjacent a longitudinal edge of the strip. The profile bead has a shoulder or an inboard sidewall extending away from the strip, such as for retaining a clip or hog ring. The flexible strip may have a reinforced region, inboard of the shoulder, in which resin contiguous with resin forming the profile bead encapsulates surface features of the strip. The product is made by molding resin directly onto the strip. Multiple lanes of resin may be molded on a single substrate, which is severed to form individual strips with severed, exposed strip edges.
Method and system for manufacturing noodles of structural joints
A method of manufacturing a noodle of a structural joint that comprises pulling a first composite sheet through a first splitting station to cut the first composite sheet into a plurality of first composite plies, pulling the plurality of first composite plies through a first alignment station to stack the plurality of first composite plies on top of each other to form a first stacked composite layup, pulling the first stacked composite layup through a first heating station to heat the first stacked composite layup to form a first heated composite layup, pulling the first heated composite layup through a first forming station to shape the first heated composite layup into a first pre-selected cross-sectional shape to form at least a first portion of a continuous noodle, and pulling at least the first portion of the continuous noodle through a cutting station to cut at least the first portion of the continuous noodle to a pre-selected length.
MULTILAYER STRUCTURE COMPRISING POLYPROPYLENE
Disclosed is a composition that comprises or is produced from a first ethylene α-olefin copolymer, a modified first ethylene α-olefin copolymer, and a second ethylene α-olefin copolymer or propylene α-olefin copolymer. Also disclosed is a multilayer film or sheet structure containing at least one barrier layer; at least one predominantly propylene-based layer, at least one predominantly ethylene-based layer, or both; and at least one adhesive layer produced from the composition. Further disclosed is a produced for producing a multilayer structure using the composition as adhesive layer.
Repair patch, method for molding repair patch, and method for repairing composite material
A repair patch is for a composite material to repair a part to be repaired which is a repair target of the composite material. The patch includes a patch main body that is formed by laminating a plurality of fiber reinforced preforms in a thickness direction, and has a bonding surface to be bonded to the part to be repaired; and a removal layer that is provided on the bonding surface to be peelable off from the patch main body. The bonding surface includes an inclined surface that is inclined with respect to the thickness direction of the patch main body. The removal layer includes a processed portion that causes the removal layer to have a shape complementary to a shape of the inclined surface of the patch main body.
METHODS OF IMPLANTING BARBED MICROCATHETERS HAVING FLUID EGRESS OPENINGS FOR INFUSING THERAPEUTIC FLUIDS INTO TISSUE
A barbed microcatheter includes a hollow tube having an elongated lumen, outwardly projecting barbs, fluid egress openings, a tissue anchor secured to a proximal end of the hollow tube, and a needle secured to the distal end of the hollow tube. The needle is used to form a first tissue opening at the first end of the wound. The hollow tube is pulled through the first tissue opening until the tissue anchor abuts against tissue at the first end of the wound. The needle is used to form a second tissue opening at the second end of the wound. The hollow tube is pulled through the second tissue opening so that barbs engage wound tissue. After cutting away the needle, a therapeutic fluid is introduced into the elongated lumen and passes through the fluid egress openings for infusing the wound with the therapeutic fluid.
METHOD OF FORMING A SPLICED JOINT IN A HANDRAIL OR OTHER ELONGATE ARTICLE
A handrail has a thermoplastic body having a generally C-shaped cross section, a stretch inhibitor in the thermoplastic body above a T-shaped slot and a slider fabric layer. The handrail includes first and second end portions, each comprising a forward part extending from an end surface of the end portion and a rear part adjacent the forward part. A method of forming a joint can include: providing cuts to separate a top section of the thermoplastic body from a base section including shoulder portions; for each end portion, removing at least shoulder portions from the forward part thereof, to leave a central portion including a forward part at the slider fabric layer and a layer of thermoplastic; cutting the forward parts to a required shape; and assembling the first and second end portions together to form a spliced joint for moulding.
