A mould tool comprising: a first tool part defining a first mould cavity portion; a second tool part defining a second mould cavity portion; and, a cavity alignment system comprising: a temperature control system configured to control the temperature of a first zone of the first tool part to thereby effect thermal expansion and/or contraction in the first zone of the first tool part; a sensor configured to measure movement of a part of the first tool part in response to the said thermal expansion and/or contraction; and, a controller configured to control the temperature control system in response to feedback from the sensor to thereby control the position of the first mould cavity portion relative to the second mould cavity portion.
Method for manufacturing a wind turbine blade
A method for manufacturing a wind turbine blade, including the step of monitoring a process of infusing and/or curing a fiber lay-up with resin in a mold, wherein the monitoring is based on sensor data obtained from the resin infusion and/or curing process displayed in an augmented reality device, is provided. Displaying sensor data obtained from the resin infusion and/or curing process in an augmented reality device allows to better monitor the resin infusion and/or curing process. Thus, the quality of the manufactured wind turbine blade can be improved.
Injection Molding of Multilayer Articles with Post-Pullback Pressure Monitoring
In one aspect, a method of molding a multilayer article comprises causing a surface layer material injection unit to commence injecting a surface layer material into a mold cavity via a surface layer material channel. Then, an internal layer material injection unit commences injecting an internal layer material into the mold cavity an internal layer material channel. Then, during application of a hold pressure upon the surface layer material in the surface layer material channel and with the surface and internal layer material injection units in fluid communication with one another, a pullback stroke is effected at the internal layer material injection unit. After a delay interval, at least one physical parameter indicative of a post-pullback pressure of the internal layer material is detected, and an indicator of pullback effectiveness is generated based on the post-pullback pressure indicated by the at least one physical parameter relative to a threshold pressure.
METHOD FOR ADJUSTING THE CLOSING FORCE OF A MOLD OF A PLASTICS PROCESSING MACHINE, IN PARTICULAR AN INJECTION MOLDING MACHINE
A method for adjusting the closing force of a mold of a plastics processing machine. In order to work with an optimized closing force, the method comprises the steps of: a) in a first production cycle: Closing the mold with a nominal initial closing force and recording the mold deformation caused thereby and calculating the deformation work introduced by the mold deformation; b) in a subsequent further production cycle: Closing the mold with a reduced closing force and recording the resulting mold deformation and calculating the deformation work introduced by the mold deformation; c) Recording the determined deformation work versus the closing force, carrying out a linear extrapolation of the course of the deformation work versus the closing force and determining a reduced closing force which is at a predetermined percentage value of one of the previously determined deformation work; d) Carrying out the subsequent further production cycle with the determined reduced closing force.
Transfer molding method with sensor and shut-off pin
According to one embodiment, a mold includes a substrate clamping surface, a cavity, a suction part, a vent, an intermediate cavity, and an opening/closing part. The substrate clamping surface contacts a surface of a processing substrate. The cavity is recessed from the substrate clamping surface. The suction part is recessed from the substrate clamping surface. The vent is provided on a path between the cavity and the suction part, communicates with the cavity, is recessed from the substrate clamping surface to a vent depth. The intermediate cavity is provided between the vent and the suction part on the path, communicates with the vent, and is recessed from the substrate clamping surface to an intermediate cavity depth deeper than the vent depth. The opening/closing part opens and closes the path and is provided between the intermediate cavity and the suction part on the path.
Process and apparatus for injection molding of plastic materials
A method and apparatus for injection molding of plastic material into a cavity of a mold by means of at least one injector whose opening and closing occurs through an electronic control unit and wherein an undesired opening of the mold caused by any overpressure of the plastic material injected into the cavity of the mold is detected by means of transducers and corrected by means of the electronic control unit. The transducers are arranged outside the cavity of the mold.
Method for controlling a rate or force of a clamp in a molding system using one or more strain gauges
A method of monitoring and controlling a molding clamping apparatus in an injection molding or other molding process is disclosed. The method includes creating a target strain profile, receiving a deviation limit, receiving a change in strain relating to a mold while it is closing from a first strain gauge, identifying a deviation from a target strain profile based on the output from the first strain gauge, determining that the deviation exceeds the deviation limit, and adjusting the rate or force of clamp movement. The target strain profile may have a first portion relating to a clamp closing process, a second portion relating to a filling process, and a third portion relating to a clamp opening process. The first portion relating to the clamp closing process may include an intermediate portion relating to a coining process having an intermediate clamp force setpoint.
Injection molding apparatus and method of detecting misalignment in the injection molding apparatus

The molding structure includes a first component and a second component, at least one of the components being selectively repositionable between a closed configuration of the mold structure and an open configuration of the mold structure. The misalignment sensing system includes an alignment member including a male portion coupled to and extending from the first component of the molding structure, and a female portion defined in the second component of the molding structure, the female portion being configured to receive the male portion when the molding structure is in a closed configuration; and at least one sensor connected to one of the male and female portions and being configured to detect a deformation of any one of the male portion and the female portion, the deformation being induced by a misalignment of the molding structure.
