Method of manufacturing isotropic parts utilizing additive manufacturing methods
A fabrication method involving the use of additive material fabrication methods to create a shell representative of a desired part, the additive material shell being used in one or more molding fabrication methods in which a second material is provided into a cavity of the shell.
ADDITIVE FABRICATION SUPPORT STRUCTURES
Techniques for evaluating support for an object to be fabricated via an additive fabrication device are provided. In some embodiments, a three-dimensional representation of the object is obtained and a plurality of voxels corresponding to the representation of the object is generated. A first supportedness value may be assigned to a first voxel of the plurality of voxels based on an amount of support provided by a support structure to the first voxel, and a second supportedness value determined for a second voxel of the plurality of voxels, wherein the second voxel neighbors the first voxel, and wherein the second supportedness value is determined based on the first supportedness value of the first voxel and a weight value representing a transmission rate of supportedness through voxels of the plurality of voxels.
Polymeric cutting edge structures and method of manufacturing polymeric cutting edge structures
A functional polymeric cutting edge structure and methods for manufacturing cutting edge structures using polymeric materials are provided. A razor blade for use in a razor cartridge or a blade box for assembly in a razor cartridge frame may be formed using the present invention.
Contact lens manufacturing method
A contact lens manufacturing method for removing a contact lens from a pair of molds, the contact lens being produced by polymerizing a monomer included in the pair of molds which are obtained by assembling a lower mold for forming a front curve of the contact lens and an upper mold for forming a base curve of the contact lens, the method including: (A) a first peeling step to peel the contact lens from the lens formation surface of the upper mold; (B) a separation step to separate the contact lens from the lens formation surface of the upper mold; (C) a second peeling step to peel the contact lens whose periphery sticks to the lens formation surface of the lower mold; and (D) a third peeling step to peel the contact lens, whose periphery has been peeled, from the lens formation surface of the lower mold.
DUAL CURE RESINS CONTAINING MICROWAVE ABSORBING MATERIALS AND METHODS OF USING THE SAME
Provided herein according to some embodiments is a method of forming a three-dimensional intermediate object with a polymerizable liquid, said polymerizable liquid comprising a mixture of (i) a microwave absorbing material, (ii) a light polymerizable liquid first component, and (iii) a second solidifiable component that is different from said first component. Optionally, but in some embodiments preferably, the method includes supporting the three-dimensional intermediate with a separate support media prior to solidifying and/or curing the second solidifiable component in the three-dimensional intermediate to form the three-dimensional object; and then optionally separating said support media when present from said three-dimensional object.
FIBER-REINFORCED STRUCTURES
A method for manufacturing a fiber reinforced structure includes the following. A mandrel of a first material comprises a hollow interior and an aperture that allows a fluid to enter the interior. A layer of a second material provided on the mandrel includes an uncured resin and fibers. The mandrel and the layer are placed in a mold cavity formed by a mold. A pressurized fluid is introduced into the interior of the mandrel via the aperture to generate a force acting to expand the mandrel outward. The mandrel is heated so that it becomes deformable and expand outward to press the layer against the mold. The layer is heated so that it cures. The mandrel is then heated to a temperature above its melting point of the first material so that it melts, after which it is removed.
Radius filler and method of manufacturing same
A method of manufacturing a radius filler may include providing a plurality of fibers, braiding the plurality of fibers into a braided preform, shaping the braided preform into a braided radius filler, and cutting the braided radius filler to a desired length.
Macromolecule Forming Mold, Thermosetting Elastomer and Manufacturing Method Therefor
A macromolecule forming mold, which is integrally formed by a polymer body. Multiple communicated runners are formed inside the polymer body; a material injection port is penetrated in the surface of the polymer body, and the material injection port is communicated with the runners, so that a thermosetting castable fills the runners by means of the material injection port and is cured and molded, and the polymer body is damaged to take out a thermosetting elastomer. A thermosetting elastomer and a manufacturing method therefor. The thermosetting elastomer has the characteristics such as excellent physical properties and lightweight properties.
Methods for three dimensional model printing
A method for the preparation of a composite material having a pre-designed structure and properties according to the intended use of said composite material is provided. The method includes generating data for dispensing two or more different interface materials having different properties into at least two different phases; selectively depositing said two or more different interface materials having different properties from two or more corresponding dispensers to form layers according to the data generated, each interface material being dispensed from a different dispenser to form at least two different phases of interface materials; and curing or solidifying the dispensed layers to obtain a composite material with pre-designed structure and properties.
Expandable bladders as tooling for composite parts
Systems and methods are provided for utilizing pellet-loaded bladders to consolidate and/or harden composite parts. One embodiment is a method for fabricating a composite part. The method includes laying up a preform that is made of fiber reinforced material and that includes a cavity, inserting one or more bladders that are loaded with expandable pellets into the cavity, inflating the bladders in response to a triggering condition, consolidating the preform while the bladders are inflated, deflating the bladders, and removing the bladders from the cavity.
