Method for fabricating multiphenylethynyl-containing and lightly crosslinked polyimides capable of memorizing shapes and augmenting thermomechanical stability
The invention generally relates to shape memory films that are tri-functionally crosslinked and that comprise multiple, non-terminal, phenylethynyl moieties. In addition, the present invention relates methods of fabricating such films. Due to the improved properties of such SMPs, the SMP designer can program in to the SMP thermomechanical property enhancements that make the SMP suitable, among other things, for advanced sensors, high temperature actuators, responder matrix materials and heat responsive packaging.
Composite structures with embedded electrical grids
A composite structure of a cargo body and a method of making the same are disclosed. The composite structure includes at least one electrical grid embedded within fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) layers. The embedded electrical grid includes a plurality of conductive fibers and a plurality of insulating fibers integrated into a polymer matrix of the FRP layers. The embedded electrical grid may be used for power distribution, structural strengthening and stiffness, and/or puncture detection.
Urethane and graphene interior trim panel
A urethane and graphene interior trim panel is provided. In another aspect, the interior trim panel may be an automotive vehicle instrument panel, airbag cover, door trim panel, center console, knee bolster, seat mechanism cover, pillar cover or the like. A further aspect includes a graphene infused thermoplastic polyurethane compound and more particularly a TPU-graphene composition or mixture which can be ground, molded and then used in vehicle interior applications.
CONDUCTIVE PLASTIC PRODUCT
An electrically conductive plastic product is made via rotational moulding. The product comprises a plastic matrix; and a network of conductive fibers of discrete length embedded in the plastic matrix. The conductive fibers are metal fibers. The network of conductive fibers provides electrical conductivity to the plastic product. The average length of the conductive fibers is at least 3 mm.
POLYETHYLENE COMPOSITIONS
Embodiments of polyethylene compositions and articles comprising polyethylene compositions are disclosed. The polyethylene compositions may include a first polyethylene fraction area defined by an area in the elution profile in a temperature range of 70° C. to 97° C. via improved comonomer composition distribution (iCCD) analysis method; a first peak in the temperature range of 70° C. to 97° C. in the elution profile; a second polyethylene fraction area defined by an area in the elution profile in a temperature range of 97° C. to 110° C.; and a second peak in the temperature range of 97° C. to 110° C. The polyethylene composition may have a density of 0.935 g/cm.sup.3 to 0.955 g/cm.sup.3 and a melt index (I.sub.2) of 1.0 g/10 minutes to 10.0 g/10 minutes. A ratio of the first polyethylene fraction area to the second polyethylene fraction area may be less than 2.0.
COMPOSITE FILM AND PRODUCTION THEREOF USING A COATING FACILITY
The invention relates to a method for producing a composite film with a polyurethane-based reactive hot-melt layer using a coating facility, having the steps of a) optionally applying a primer onto a support material; b) applying the polyurethane-based reactive hot-melt layer onto the primer or directly onto the support material; c) applying a lacquer layer onto the polyurethane-based reactive hot-melt layer in order to produce the composite film on the support material; d) optionally embossing the composite film on the support material; and e) separating the composite film from the support material. The invention additionally relates to a composite film which can be obtained by such a method and to the use thereof.
DIP-MOLDED ARTICLE
An immersion-molded body, wherein: the immersion-molded body is obtained using a latex; the latex comprises a chloroprene-based block copolymer; the chloroprene-based block copolymer contains 5 to 30% by mass of a polymer block (A) and 70 to 95% by mass of a chloroprene-based polymer block (B); the polymer block (A) is derived from a monomer; when the monomer is polymerized alone, a polymer with a glass transition temperature of 80° C. or higher can be obtained; the chloroprene-based polymer block (B) includes a chloroprene monomer unit; and when the immersion-molded body is heat-treated at 130° C. for 30 minutes, a tensile strength at break of the heat-treated immersion-molded body measured in accordance with JIS K6251 is 17 MPa or more.
Method of making a multilayered elastomeric article
Elastomeric articles, such as gloves, made from more than one layer, are provided. The gloves can include a first (grip side) layer in which a first colorant is compounded or integrated and a second (donning side) layer in which a second colorant is compounded or integrated. Alternatively, the gloves can include a translucent first layer and a second layer in which a colorant is compounded or integrated. Either arrangement can enable a breach of the first layer to be more easily detected, either due to the high level of contrast between the first layer and the second when a first colorant and a second colorant are utilized, or due to the translucence of the first layer as compared to the donning side layer, where the intensity of the second layer is increased upon a breach of the translucent first layer.
