METHOD FOR PRODUCING A SANDWICH PANEL COMPRISING A REINFORCED FOAM CORE
A method for producing a sandwich panel with a reinforced foam core includes inserting rod-shaped, thermoplastic reinforcing elements into a thermoplastic foam material such that the reinforcing elements extend through the foam material. End regions of the reinforcing elements project out of the foam material. The foam material is thermoformed to form a reinforced foam core, wherein the end regions of the reinforcing elements are integrally formed by applying temperature and pressure to the cover surfaces of the foam material and are bonded to the foam material in a fused connection. A thermoplastic cover layer is laminated on either side by applying temperature and pressure to the reinforced foam core on the cover surfaces of the foam material in order to form the sandwich panel, wherein the cover layers are bonded to the reinforced foam core in a fused connection.
Phyllosilicate-impregnated melamine-formaldehyde foam
A melamine/formaldehyde foam having an open-cell foam structure, with an impregnation applied to the foam structure that comprises at least one particulate phyllosilicate surface-modified with aminosilane and at least one anionically- and/or nonionically-stabilized polyurethane dispersion.
MAKEUP APPLICATOR TOOL AND METHODS OF MAKING AND USING SAME
A makeup blending sponge. The sponge comprises a foam core and a layer of coating. The layer of coating covers a portion of an outer surface of the foam core. The portion may be about 70% to about 90% of the total surface area of the outer surface of the foam core. The foam core may be polyurethane. The layer of coating is an elastomer, and may be a mixture of an elastomer and a thinning agent. The elastomer may be silicone. A method of manufacturing the makeup blending sponge and the use thereof are also disclosed.
METHOD FOR PRODUCING A FOAM BODY HAVING AN INTERNAL STRUCTURE
A method for producing a foam body (10) having an internal structure (100, 200, 300), comprising the steps: I) selecting an internal structure (100, 200, 300) to be formed in the foam body (10), the structure comprising a first polymer material; II) providing a foam body (10), the foam body (10) comprising a second polymer material which is different to the first polymer material; III) injecting, by means of an injection means (20), a predefined amount of a melt of the first polymer material or a predefined amount of a reaction mixture (30, 31, 32) which reacts to form the first polymer material at a predefined location inside the foam body (10), corresponding to a volume element of the internal structure (100, 200, 300); IV) repeating step III) for further predefined locations inside the foam body (10), corresponding to further volume elements of the internal structure (10), until the internal structure (10) is formed. The invention also relates to a foam body (10) which has an internal structure (100, 200, 300) and is obtainable by the method according to the invention.
PROCESS TO MAKE A COMPOSITE AUTOMOTIVE TRIM PART
The present invention relates to a method for producing a composite part comprising a textured skin and a rigid or foam substrate layer, in particular a composite automotive trim part. The method comprises the steps of spraying or casting an aqueous thermoplastic dispersion onto a rigid or foam substrate composite followed by forming the composite into a composite part comprising a textured skin and a rigid or foam substrate layer. Preferably, the dispersion is derived from the extrusion melt blending of thermoplastic polymer, a dispersing agent, and water.

Method of making a water resistant expansion joint system
A water resistant expansion joint system includes foam, which has been formed into a desired shape by at least one of stamping, cutting, molding and die-cutting; and a layer of an elastomer disposed on the foam. The layer of the elastomer facilitates compression of the water resistant expansion joint system when installed between substrates. The desired shape of the foam includes an angle, and the water resistant expansion joint system is angled around a corner and accommodates thermal and seismic movement in the system by expanding and contracting, and creates a waterproof seal around the corner upon expansion of the foam between the substrates.
METHOD OF PRODUCING VIBRATION DAMPING AND SOUND ABSORBING FOAM
Vibration damping and sound absorbing foam formed of foam and fine particles present inside the foam so as to form bell-like structures having communication paths to a surface of the foam is produced by performing the following steps [I] to [III] in the stated order. [I] Preparing foam having foamed cells inside the foam and having communication paths to the foamed cells on a surface thereof, and fine particles each having a particle diameter smaller than a cell diameter of each of the foamed cells and larger than a diameter of each of the communication paths. [II] Swelling the foam to enlarge the diameter of each of the communication paths, and then sprinkling the surface of the foam with the fine particles, followed by pushing of the fine particles into the foamed cells via the communication paths with a fluid pressure of a liquid. [III] Drying the foam.
