Contact Lens Packaging
20230144078 · 2023-05-11 ·

Packages, systems, and methods of the present disclosure are generally directed to the use of side gating in injection molding to form packaging for contact lenses. As compared to gating along a top surface of a contact lens package, the use of a side gate in injection molding to form a package for contact lenses may significantly reduce the time required to cool plastic in the injection mold, thus offering potential to reduce the overall cycle time for the injection molding process and increase fabrication throughput of the package.

Method and apparatus for real time control of injection of structural foaming agents, colorants, and other additives

An additive injection system for use in injection molding machines to inject additive materials, such as fluids or powders, downstream of a nozzle of the injection molding machine. The additive injection unit has an additive tank to store or contain additive material and additive injectors that inject an additive material into an injection molding machine. A pump pumps the additive material from the tank through a common manifold connected to the additive injectors to be injected into the injection molding machine. A controller controls operation of the additive injection device and one or more sensors coupled to the additive injection device can provide feedback to the controller.

METHOD FOR MEASURING FLUIDITY INDEX OF MOLTEN RESIN

There is provided a molten resin fluidity index measuring method which can detect the fluidity of a molten resin online even during successive molding operations. The method includes: assuming that a narrow flow path, formed in a flow path for the molten resin, is a capillary or an orifice in a metering step in which the molten resin is collected in front of the screw; measuring, with an injection apparatus of the injection molding machine, the amount of the metered resin and the back pressure applied to the screw during the metering step; and calculating, based on the amount of the metered resin and the back pressure, a fluidity index which indicates the fluidity properties of the metered molten resin.

Disclosed is a removable erosion-control and fencing (REAF) system for shoreline preservation along a line defined by a plurality of posts. An exemplary REAF system comprises first and second post clamp pairs mounted to adjacent posts. Each post clamp pair sandwiches a post and is fixedly attached to the post by virtue of fasteners that lock one half of the post clamp pair to its other half. In this way, the post clamp pair hugs the post and is secured thereon without having to be permanently fixed to the post or damaging the structural rigidity of the post. Each post clamp pair includes a substantially vertical wall slot such that one or more cross-members may be received into the walls slots to form a wall section in a space defined between the adjacent posts.
