A hot runner nozzle for the lateral gating of plastic components has a nozzle body and a pressure lid. Tip elements are arranged between the nozzle body and the pressure lid, which are each inserted into a recess of the nozzle body and are each penetrated by a movable closure needle having a tip, which in at least one operating position protrudes in each case over an outer circumferential edge of the nozzle body. The closure needles each include, on their ends facing away from the tip, a coupling means, which is coupled to a drive means for moving the closure needles. The tip elements are supported on their side facing away from the respective tip of the closure needles on a buttress element inserted between the nozzle body and the pressure lid.

An injection molding machine includes an edge gate nozzle with a nozzle body having a primary melt channel and a nozzle head having first and second secondary melt channels that feed melt to first and second nozzle tips. First and second heaters are disposed in the nozzle head to provide heat to the secondary melt channels. In some embodiments, the heaters are positioned adjacent to the secondary melt channels, with first heater is closer to the first secondary melt channel than to the second secondary melt channel. In some embodiments, the heaters are positioned adjacent to the nozzle tips, with the first heater closer to the first nozzle tip than to the second nozzle tip. In some embodiments, each heater is adjacent to both the respective nozzle tip and secondary melt channel. In some embodiments, each heater is individually controllable.

Disclosed is a side-gate nozzle having a nozzle body, a nozzle tip and a transfer member. The nozzle body includes a heater, a longitudinally extending nozzle channel, and a bore extending from an exterior side wall of the nozzle body to the nozzle channel. The nozzle tip includes a tip member, a tip channel extending therethrough and a sealing member surrounding the tip member and in which the tip member is received. The transfer member seats against a step in the bore in the nozzle body and includes a bearing surface against which the nozzle tip is slidably seated and a transfer channel extending therethrough in fluid communication between the nozzle channel and the tip channel. In operation thermal expansion of the transfer member along its length applies a sealing force against the nozzle tip.

A method relates to manufacturing an in-mold decorative molded product including a transfer layer formed on a surface of an injection-molded product. The method includes inserting, in a first mold for injection molding, an in-mold transfer film including the transfer layer disposed on a base film; forming a molding injection space by mold clamping of the first mold and a second mold including a structure for injecting a molding resin into the molding injection space and a structure for holding the in-mold decorative molded product; and forming the in-mold decorative molded product by filling the molding injection space with the molding resin and then opening the first and second molds. When the base film is separated from the in-mold decorative molded product by opening the first and second molds, a peeling weight varies depending on a portion in an end part of the in-mold decorative molded product.

The side-gate nozzle assembly delivers moldable material to a cavity insert that is beside the side-gate nozzle assembly. The side-gate nozzle assembly includes a nozzle body having a nozzle flow channel and a widthwise slot extending across a downstream side of the nozzle body. The nozzle flow channel has an outlet that ends at a wall of the slot. A load component is received in the slot and has a load component flow channel in fluid communication between the nozzle body outlet and an outlet at an end of the load component. A side-gate tip assembly is adjacent to the end of the load component and is in fluid communication between the load component flow channel and the cavity insert. In operation, thermal expansion of the load component presses the side-gate tip assembly towards the cavity insert.
