METHOD OF IMPROVING SHOT REPEATABILITY IN MULTILAYER RECIPROCATING SCREW INJECTION MOLDING MACHINES
In one aspect there is disclosed a method of improving shot repeatability in a multilayer reciprocating screw injection molding apparatus by preventing pressure communication or “cross-talk” between melt channels. In the first aspect an outlet nozzle valve is closed prior to closing a check valve within an injection unit of the multilayer reciprocating screw injection molding apparatus. In another aspect there is disclosed a method of improving shot repeatability in a reciprocating screw injection molding apparatus by recording a first position of a screw within the barrel of an injection unit of a reciprocating screw injection molding apparatus, the first position corresponding to a volume of melt within the barrel of the material injection unit. A second position of the screw is then calculated based on the first position, the second position corresponding to a transition position of the screw within the barrel of the injection unit of the reciprocating screw injection molding apparatus.

Method for improving a cycle time of a molding system operating in cycles, wherein the molding system is set up to produce molded parts in cycles, wherein the cycles include partial phases, for at least one partial phase or at least one group of partial phases a partial phase duration is measured or ascertained with reference to settings of the molding system, an optimum partial phase duration is calculated for the at least one partial phase or the at least one group of partial phases on the basis of a machine configuration, if the measured or ascertained partial phase duration deviates from the optimum partial phase duration by more than a predefined amount, an indication that the setting of the molding system is improvable with respect to the at least one partial phase or the at least one group of partial phases is issued.

An injection molding machine management system, which manages an injection molding unit including an injection molding machine and a peripheral device that performs a previous step or a subsequent step of a molding step, includes a first display unit that displays a first screen for displaying a state of the molding step of the injection molding machine. The first screen includes a first screen area and a second screen area. The first screen area displays a first indicator related to quality in the molding step of the injection molding machine, and the second screen area displays a second indicator related to quality in the previous step of the molding step or the subsequent step of the molding step.

The present invention displays the same molding condition on an injection molding device and on an upper level management device. This molding condition display system includes an injection molding device and a management device. The injection molding device comprises: a display; a storage unit for storing a first molding condition display program that causes the display to display molding conditions, and a second molding condition display program that corresponds to the first molding condition display program and that causes a display device of the management device to display the molding conditions stored in the management device; and a transmission unit that transmits the second molding condition display program from the storage unit of the injection molding device to the management device. The management device comprises a reception unit that acquires the second molding condition display program from the injection molding device.

Non-time dependent calculated variables based on measured strain are used to effectively determine an optimal hold profile for an expanding crosslinking polymer part in a mold cavity. A system and/or approach may first inject molten expanding crosslinking polymer into a mold cavity, then measure strain at the mold cavity or at another location within the injection molding system, and then calculate at least one non-time dependent variable during an injection molding cycle. Next, the system and/or method commences a hold profile for the part, and upon completing the hold profile, the part is ejected from the mold cavity, whereupon a cure profile is commenced.

Systems and approaches for determining design of experiment parameters using largest empty area rectangle optimization for an injection molding system. The systems and methods include obtaining pressure versus time data sets indicative of fill step pressures and corresponding fill step times for a plurality of mold cycles and defining a low and high pressure versus time curves from the data sets, with the low and high pressure versus time curves being two surfaces of a geometric shape. The systems and methods further include identifying a top surface and a bottom surface of the geometric shape; identifying a rectangle having the largest area of all rectangles contained within the first geometric shape; and generating design of experiment parameters from the largest area rectangle.
