FIBER OPTIC CABLES WITH ACCESS FEATURES AND METHODS OF MAKING FIBER OPTIC CABLES
Cables are constructed with extruded discontinuities in the cable jacket that allow the jacket to be torn to provide access to the cable core. The discontinuities can be longitudinally extending strips of material in the cable jacket.
BLOWING HEAD, METHOD FOR PRODUCING A BLOWN FILM AND BLOWN FILM INSTALLATION
A blowing head, a method for producing a blown film, and a blown film installation include the use of plate spiral distributors in blown film installations for distributing melt steams arriving from extruders and for combining the melt streams to form an annular gap stream in several layers in an annular gap leading to a tubular die. The melt streams in a plate spiral distributor are initially bundled and then forwarded in a bundled manner to a common co-extrusion flow. The distributer has a plurality of spirals in superimposed layers, and the spirals of two layers have a junction for pre-combining the melt streams of two layers, and in that starting from the junction, a common guide leading to the annular gap is provided for combining there the pre-combined melt streams with the annular gap stream.
URINARY CATHETER WITH VARYING PROPERTIES
A urinary catheter and a method of its manufacture are disclosed. The urinary catheter comprises a tubular shaft extending between an insertion end and a discharge end, the tubular shaft being formed of at least two materials having different properties. The materials are arranged substantially separated from each other in distinct zones, wherein at least one of the width and thickness of said zones varies over the length of the tubular shaft, to form two or more uniform sections of the tubular shaft having various relative amounts of said materials, and wherein at least one transition between two such uniform sections is formed by at least one transition section providing a gradual transition between the uniform sections. The catheter can e.g. be produced by intermittent extrusion.
MULTILAYER FILM
Provided are a multilayer film, a method for producing the multilayer film, and a method for producing a molded body. The multilayer film has excellent three-dimensional overlaying formability and adhesiveness after being formed; can easily be used when being bonded to an adherend; maintains adhesive strength. Specifically, the multilayer film has: an adhesive layer comprising a thermoplastic polymer composition containing a thermoplastic elastomer (A) which is a block copolymer or a hydrogenated product thereof having a polymer block (a1) containing aromatic vinyl compound units and having a polymer block (a2) containing conjugated diene compound units; and a base layer comprising an amorphous resin which has a modulus of elasticity of 2 to 600 MPa at an arbitrary temperature of 110 to 160° C. The tensile elongation at break of the multilayer film at a temperature 5° C. lower than the glass transition temperature of the amorphous resin is at least 160%.
EXTRUDED MULTI-LAYER MOLDED RUNNING BOARD
A vehicle running board includes opposing vertical walls extending along a length of a tubular structure and including a carbon-fiber component. Opposing horizontal walls extend between the opposing vertical walls and include a glass component. The opposing vertical and opposing horizontal walls form the tubular structure having a generally rectilinear cross section. A polymer outer covering extends over the opposing vertical and opposing horizontal walls.
METHOD FOR PRINTING COMPONENT WITH ANTI-COUNTERFEIT FEATURES
An additively manufactured component has a plurality of overlapping layers bonded to each other. The plurality of overlapping layers includes at least a first subset of layers, and at least one layer of the at least a first subset of layers includes adjacent tracks bonded to each other. At least one of the adjacent tracks has a tool path pattern that is encoded with information.
ELECTRONIC DEVICE MODULE
An electronic device module including a glass cover sheet, a polymeric front polymeric material, an electronic device, a polymeric back material and a backsheet, wherein the polymeric front and/or back materials have a trilayer structure including a back layer which is adhered to a surface of the electronic device, a front layer which is adhered to the glass cover sheet or the backsheet and an intermediate layer between the back layer and the front layer, wherein each of the back layer and the front layer includes an ethylene interpolymer grafted with silane, wherein the ethylene interpolymer grafted with silane has a density of at most 0.905 g/cm.sup.3, and the intermediate layer is a non-grafted ethylene interpolymer having a density of at most 0.905 g/cm.sup.3, which is crosslinked with the aid of a crosslinking initiator and optionally a crosslinking coagent, and optionally additives. A trilayer polymeric film having outer layers including ethylene interpolymers grafted with silanes and a non-grafted innerlayer containing a peroxide and UV stabilizer.
Laminated polyolefin microporous membrane including propylene-α-olefin copolymer and method of producing the same
The disclosure provides a laminated polyolefin microporous membrane having propylene-α-olefin copolymer and methods of producing the same. The laminated polyolefin microporous membrane has a two-type three layer structure in which first polyolefin microporous layers are surface layers and a second polyolefin microporous layer is an intermediate layer which is different from the first polyolefin microporous layer.
FILM WITH IMPROVED FLEX CRACK RESISTANCE
Provided herein are liners, for example, for storing or dispensing high purity chemicals, as well as methods of manufacturing such liners. The liners resist formation of stress-induced breaches. In one aspect, the liner includes a film formed into a liner capable of retaining a liquid. The liner has a first barrier layer to a gas (e.g., oxygen); a second barrier layer to the gas (e.g., oxygen); and at least one additional layer of material disposed interstitially between the first barrier layer and the second barrier layers.
Method and apparatus for making a compartmentalized tire sealant strip
A method for making a compartmentalized sealant strip and barrier assembly 10 has the steps of co-extruding a barrier strip 9 of non-sealant elastomeric material with a plurality of projecting linear extending walls 9c and a sealant strip 11 wherein the sealant strip 11 is formed on one side of the barrier strip 9 filling the space between the plurality of projecting walls 9c to form a plurality of linearly extending rows of sealant 11 across the transverse width of the co-extrusion to form the compartmentalized sealant strip and barrier assembly 10.
