Method for making a honeycomb structure comprising coating a honeycomb body with cement skin layers
Disclosed is a ceramic honeycomb structure comprising a honeycomb body and a multilayered outer layer formed of a thick core layer applied and rapidly dried and a thin clad layer dried more gently to form a crack free dual skin layer. The core layer may have properties that are closer to those of the ceramic honeycomb body in service than the clad layer that may provide a tough outer shell to withstand handling and assembly.
Method of manufacturing hybrid scaffold and hybrid scaffold manufactured by the same
In an apparatus for manufacturing a hybrid scaffold, a first strand having bin compatible polymer and a second strand having a mixture of bio compatible material and cells alternate with each other. Thus, mechanical strength of the hybrid scaffold is improved, and the cells uniformly grow among entire region of the scaffold. Furthermore, diameters of the first and second strands and interval between the first and second strands are precisely controlled. Thus, the hybrid scaffold is precisely manufactured according to a scaffold design.
Oriented polymer composite article, composition and method of manufacture
The disclosure generally relates to a solid state non-proportional, adjustable, tapered drawing die and an oriented polymer article formed therefrom. More specifically, embodiments relate to a non-proportional draw die used to produce oriented, dimensionally accurate, symmetric or asymmetric polymer composite profiles having simple profiles or complicated profiles with multiple edges. Moreover, the draw die of the disclosure prevents natural flattening of the edges of the final profile during the solid state die drawing process of the oriented polymer composite.
Recycled resin compositions and disposable medical devices made therefrom
Compositions including recycled resin components and medical devices and components made form such compositions are disclosed. The compositions and medical devices are characterized as biocompatible and sterilization stable. In one or more embodiments, the compositions include a recycled resin component and may include one or more of an anti-oxidant component, slip additive component, anti-static component, impact modifier component, colorant component, acid scavenger component, X-ray fluorescence agent component, radio opaque filler component, surface modifier component, melt stabilizer component, clarifier component, processing aid component and reinforcing agent component. Methods of forming medical articles and components are also disclosed.
EXTRUSION DIE SYSTEMS, DIE CHANGERS, AND RELATED METHODS
Extrusion die systems, die changers and related methods are provided herein. The die changer for changing of dies in and out of an extrusion line can include a housing having a main supply feed bore therethrough for directing, a flowable material and a channel oriented transversely to the main supply feed bore. The die changer can include a slide plate movable through the channel and transverse to a direction of flow through the bore. The slide plate can include an elongate body having a first section and a second section. A first bore can extend through the first section of the elongate body of the slide plate and a second bore can extend through the second section of the elongate body of the slide plate. The slide plate of the die changer can be moved within the channel of the housing between a first position where the first bore in the first section of the elongate body of the slide plate is aligned with the main supply feed bore and a second position where the second bore in the second section of the elongate body of the slide plate is aligned with the main supply feed bore.
RESIN INFUSION PROCESS FOR MANUFACTURING FIBER-REINFORCED COMPOSITES
A resin infusion method that incorporates a melt-on-demand approach. The method includes: (a) providing a curable resin composition in the form of a block of frozen resin (20); (b) coupling the block of frozen resin (20) to an inlet port of a heated extruder (22), which comprises at least one rotating screw (24) housed within a heated barrel (25); (c) progressively melting the block of frozen resin (20) at the inlet port and concurrently feeding the melt resin through the heated barrel (25) to produce a liquid resin having a viscosity suitable for resin infusion; (d) continuously feeding the liquid resin exiting from the extruder to a mold, which contains a fibrous preform; and (e) introducing the liquid resin into the fibrous preform, wherein the block of frozen resin (20) provides an amount of resin composition sufficient for infusing the entire fibrous preform.
Articles containing PTFE having improved dimensional stability particularly over long lengths, methods for making such articles, and cable/wire assemblies containing such articles
The present disclosure relates to methods of making an article comprising PTFE, methods of making expanded articles comprising PTFE, articles comprising PTFE, and expanded articles comprising PTFE having improved mechanical and electrical performance and particularly reduced variability in mechanical, electrical and dimensional properties, particularly over long lengths.
Extrusion blow-molding method and device for the performance thereof
An extrusion blow molding method includes detecting an exit velocity of a tube exiting a head during a blow molding cycle for forming the tube. A melt accumulator receives part of the melt conveyed by an extruder or discharges melt in addition to the melt conveyed by the extruder in dependence on the detected exit velocity. The melt accumulator discharges melt if the detected exit velocity is less than a target value for the exit velocity and receives melt if the detected exit velocity is greater than the target value for the exit velocity.
MOLTEN RESIN EXTRUSION DEVICE AND EXTRUSION METHOD AS WELL AS MOLTEN RESIN MOLDING APPARATUS AND MOLDING METHOD
Provided is a method for extruding molten resin in a charging space from a head by converting a rotational motion of an electric motor into a linear motion of a piston disposed in the charging space through a ball screw and thus causing the piston to move vertically, the charging space being a space into which the molten resin can be charged and formed in an accumulator, the head having an extrusion port at a lower end thereof. The method includes a step of separating an upper plate from a lower plate and retracting the upper plate upward by a rotational motion of the electric motor and then charging the molten resin into the charging space with a sufficient charging pressure to push up the piston against weights of the lower plate and the piston in the charging space, the lower plate being disposed over the accumulator and coupled to the piston from above, the upper plate being engaged with the electric motor through a screwing relationship and disposed over the lower plate so as to be able to surface-contact the lower plate and a step of extruding the molten resin from the extrusion port by moving the upper plate downward with the upper plate and the lower plate surface-contacting each other by a rotational motion of the electric motor and thus moving the piston downward in the charging space.
